This City and Guilds accredited vocational course is most suitable for staff working in care homes, domiciliary care agencies & health and social care assistant roles. It is also relevant to all staff involved in end of life care, including housekeeping, catering and administration roles. QCF Level 3 Award in End of Life Care Three taught days for those who have completed the Level 2 Award Principles in End of Life Care for Registered Staff Two day workshop on: Symptom Management, End of Life Care Planning, Breaking Bad News, Spirituality & Communication Skills, ACP, DNACPR & PPC. Motor Neurone Disease Study Day Suitable for all staff caring for patients with MND: both those with some working knowledge of the illness and also those requiring an introduction. Symptom Control Study Days Symptom Management in Palliative & End of Life Care (2 days) (Intermediate) Syringe Driver Training – T34 A half day workshop explaining the reasons to use a syringe driver, & practical training on setting up a syringe driver, & common drugs used. Dementia Awareness at End of Life Multi-disciplinary team presenting sessions covering assessment of dementia & its impact, challenges for carers, pain control, medication & advance care planning at end of life (1 day) (Introductory) Supporting Families in Dealing with Bereavement One day experiential workshop exploring the issues facing families & how we can support them. Suitable for school & chaplaincy pastoral care teams, & all health & social care workers End of Life Care for those with Learning Disabilities * NEW Delivered in partnership with Dorset Healthcare Community Learning Disability Team, topics include breaking bad news, advance care planning and pain and symptom management for those with learning disabilities. Meal Deal (Food Hygiene and Nutrition)* NEW A three hour workshop which looks at food Hygiene and the Dining Experience as outlined in the Care Certificate and the CQC. The Meal Deal workshop is delivered in conjunction with Kingston Maurward College and is particularly useful for clinical & non-clinical staff assisting and supervising food preparation and delivery in any health care setting. Ethics Day A one day course exploring ethical concepts and related issues involved in palliative and end of life care. Suitable for all health care professionals (1 day) Train the Trainers Two day programme equipping participants with the skills to deliver innovative & creative teaching sessions on health and social care (2 day) Dignity Champions An Introduction to the Role of Dignity Champion Dignity Champions’ Study Day - an annual refresher for those who have attended the Introduction to the Role of Dignity Champions’ Study Day Verification of Expected Death (VoED) * NEW Suitable for Registered Nurses, this course includes a review of prognostication skills, recognition and communication for those at the end of their life. The second part covers knowledge and competencies to verify death. Nursing Home Education In addition to the above courses, we are happy to provide bespoke education packages in your care home on topics such as communications skills, the use of End of Life Care tools, recognising dying and dignity in care.
