Raising Your Happiness Level #6083 Author Gretchen Rubin had a lot to be happy about ….and she knew it. And yet, she found herself dissatisfied at times….feeling like something was missing. She wasn’t as happy as she could be….and she knew that wasn’t going to change unless she made it change. So, she dedicated a year to trying to be happier. It was a major focus for her. She even designed a calendar where she could record all of her resolutions and give herself a daily check mark for good or X for bad for each resolution. She focused on a different subject each month. For the first month, she would focus on the first resolution…then add the next set of resolutions to the first set and on down the line. One month was boost energy….another was pursue a passion….and make time for friends…..and aim higher….. pay attention…..and be serious about play. I have to say, I love some of her choices to focus on. Nothing earth shattering….and yet, they could definitely affect her level of happiness. Gretchen says, “Research shows that happy people are more altruistic, more productive, helpful, likable, creative, resilient, more interested in others, friendlier and healthier. Happy people make better friends, colleagues and citizens. I wanted to be one of those people. Working on my happiness wouldn’t just make me happier, it would boost the happiness of the people around me.” You can’t argue with that. This is Time Out with M’Liss. Copyright 2014, M’Liss Long.
