Here Comes Another Season!
Welcome Back
Another year is upon us, and we have some great things to tell
you about here in Wells Harbor. First, our new double launch
ramp was completed last fall and is up and running. This
improvement will allow for much better flow of traffic for folks
using our boat ramp. I would like to remind everyone who is
trailering boats to remember a few important points.
First: ALWAYS USE THE TRAILER SAFETY CHAIN!
Second: Remember to install your bilge plug!
Third: Please be kind to one another and lend a hand if possible.
Fourth: Make sure your boat is ready to go before launching!
Jetty / Harbor Conditions
Our Harbor Channel is in decent shape as far as depths go for the
majority of our boating traffic. There are a few sand waves that
may pose an issue at low tide and if you have questions or
concerns, please let me know, as I am happy to help.
Our Jetties have some sand bar formations that are making some
breaking surf conditions prevalent during periods of ocean swell.
If you have doubts about your abilities to transit the harbor
entrance, please call my office 1-207-646-3236, cell phone 1-207251-1987 or hail me on VHF 16.
Private Mooring Pilot Program
This year we are offering some up river sites for private moorings.
This new program is intended to give the DIY boater the

opportunity to have a mooring in Wells Harbor for $100. The catch is that these moorings are private, so
the owner of the mooring is responsible for construction, maintenance and placement of said mooring. I
am happy to elaborate on this and help any potential interested parties in obtaining and using a private
mooring.
Projects and Progress and Important Dates
We are in the process of applying for a Maine DOT SHIP grant to re-deck and make structural
improvements to the main pier on the West Side of the Harbor.
We will be charging for Tow vehicle and Trailer parking at the boat launch parking lot starting later this
month. Fees are set at $12 a day, and a season pass is available for $100.
The next Harbor Advisory Meeting is Scheduled for July 12th, 2017- Littlefield Meeting Rm. Wells Town
Hall 5pm. Public is welcome.
