NO hold luggage – hand luggage only. No liquids or aerosols bigger than 100ml.

 Toilets and showers are located on the floor and not in the rooms.
 Bed sheets are included.
 Towels are not included so please bring your own.
 Rooms have to be vacated by 10am on the day of departure (Friday 14th July)
 Daily inspections of all dormitories will take place every day after breakfast. Prizes will be
awarded for the tidiest rooms and penalties will be given for the messiest rooms!
 Free WiFi in the common room
 Room keys carry a €50 deposit. All room keys are to be given to the teacher responsible for
inspecting each dormitory every morning for safe keeping. Lost keys will incur the €50 charge.
 The dormitories are 6-bed.
 Please think about who you would like to share with before the meeting on FRIDAY 26TH MAY
(1.15pm in L6) where we will finalise who is sharing with whom.
 The food is a self-service buffet for both breakfast and our evening meal. Every day we will take
packed lunches provided by the hostel.
 Please note that the hostel cannot provide halal meat so all halal-only students will eat a
vegetarian diet for the duration of the visit.

Each member of staff will be assigned a small group students each. This member of staff will be your
point of contact during the trip should you have any questions or issues. Please remember which
member of staff will register your group before departing from the hostel and upon arrival at our
destination(s). You must make sure that you make yourself known to that member of staff at the
appropriate times… If you go AWOL we will contact the authorities to report your disappearance!

IMPORTANT INOFRMATION REGARDING YOUR LUGGAGE:
We only have hand luggage to save money and time. Please note that you MUST follow the below
guidelines. If you try to bring any bottles bigger than 100ml they will be disposed of by security staff.





Containers with liquids and gel-like products may contain up to 100ml and the bottle itself must not be
bigger than 100ml capacity.
All containers must be carried in a plastic bag (transparent, resealable, max. capacity 1 litre). One bag
per person
The bag must be presented separately at the security check
Anything you buy in the airport shops must be presented in a sealed, certified bag. The shops will do
this for you.
Medicines which are needed during a flight may be transported outside of the plastic zip-lock bag and
must also be presented at security
Weather forecast / packing list:
 Please ensure you bring comfortable shoes as we will be doing a lot of walking.
 The weather can be variable even in July so please ensure you have something warm and
something waterproof to wear in case of rain.
 If the weather is good we might go to an outdoor swimming pool – so please bring your
swimming shorts!
Spending money:
All of your meals and excursions are already paid for. You only need money for souvenirs and any extra
snacks or drinks you may wish to purchase. We will be operating a banking system whereby boys hand
in their spending money upon arrival on Monday evening and withdraw a certain amount of cash each
morning after breakfast.
Interesting Facts about Munich:
1. Fun fact: Not one frame of the film "Munich" was filmed in Munich.
2. One family, the Wittelsbachs, ruled the country of Bavaria, with Munich as
its capital, for 738 years.
3. Munich is home to the Bavarian Film Studios which are the biggest and most famous
film production studios in Europe.
4. Munich has the strongest economy of any German city and has the lowest unemployment rate.
5. Weird fact: The local name for Munich is "Minga" although the proper high German name is München
6. The major streets of the old town of Munich were pedestrianised for the Olympics in 1972 and have stayed
pedestrian-only ever since.
7. Most of the Oktoberfest is held in September. The Oktoberfest ends the first weekend in October.
8. Weißwürst (white sausage) is a breakfast sausage dish that is the traditional breakfast of Munich, and is the
only sausage from the area.
9. Munich's most famous soccer team, FC Bayern München, is also the most successful club in German soccer.
10. Random fact: Munich is Germany's 3rd largest city behind Berlin and Hamburg.
12. There are six major German breweries in Munich: Augustiner Bräu, Hofbräu, Löwenbräu, Hacker-Pschorr
Bräu, Spaten-Franziskaner Bräu, and Paulaner Brauerei.
