Saint Augustine’s University Football Game Field/Track Emergency Action Plan 1. Call 911 in the event of medical emergency needing greater attention than the level of training of personnel on site. 2. Instruct emergency medical services (EMS) personnel to “report to Saint Augustine’s University and meet a staff member at the State Street Gate as we have an injured student-athlete in need of emergency medical treatment.” 3. Provide necessary information to EMS personnel: a. Name, address, telephone number of caller b. Number of victims; condition of victims c. First-aid treatment initiated d. Specific directions as needed to locate scene e. Other information as requested by dispatcher 4. Call 919-516-4411 to alert campus security that EMS has been called to the football practice field and if the gate needs to be opened. 5. Provide appropriate emergency care until arrival of EMS personnel: on arrival of EMS personnel, provide pertinent information (method of injury, vital signs, treatment rendered, medical history) and assist with emergency care as needed. 6. Coaching staff will help to control scene by assisting medical staff, helping direct EMS to site, and keep athletes clear of injured athlete. Note: Coach or sports medicine staff member should accompany student-athlete to hospital Notify other sports medicine staff Parents should be contacted by sports medicine staff or coaching staff Obtain medical history and insurance information Appropriate injury reports should be completed
