Memorandum of Understanding with Hebrew University of Jerusalem IIT Bombay signed a Memorandum of understanding with the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel on 10th December, 2014 to seek to develop and foster international relations in areas of education and research through establishing student exchange collaboration. The MoU covers the following areas of promotion of cooperation between the two institutes: ● Visits by and exchange of students and faculty members for research ● Exchange of information including, but not limited to, research publications of faculty members ● Joint organization of seminars, workshops, symposia on topics of mutual interest ● Joint research activities The MoU was signed by Professor Devang Khakhar, Director , IIT Bombay and Prof. Oron Shagrir, Vice Rector, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem. The Hebrew University of Jerusalem is Israel's second-oldest university, after the Technion. The Hebrew University has three campuses in Jerusalem and one in Rehovot. The first Board of Governors included Albert Einstein, Sigmund Freud, Martin Buber, and Chaim Weizmann. Four of Israel's prime ministers are alumni of the Hebrew University. In the last decade, seven researchers and alumni of the University received the Nobel Prize and one was awarded the Fields Medal. According to the Academic Ranking of World Universities, the Hebrew University is the top university in Israel, overall the 59th-best university in the world, 16th in mathematics, 27th in computer science and 44th in business/economics. Notable alumni include: ● Nobel Laureates like Daniel Kahneman (economics 2002), David Gross (physics 2004), Avram Hershko (chemistry 2004), Aaron Ciechanover (chemistry 2004), Robert Aumann (economics 2005), Roger D. Kornberg (chemistry 2006), and Ada Yonath (chemistry 2009) ● Fields Medal Laureate Elon Lindenstrauss (2010) ● The acclaimed Hollywood and Broadway actress Natalie Portman ● Several Presidents, Prime Ministers and Supreme Court Justices of Israel
