YOUR PAPER RECYCLED
INTO YOUR PAPER
OVER AND OVER
AND OVER AGAIN...
FOR NATURE THE WATER CYCLE IS
ESSENTIAL FOR MAINTAINING LIFE
ON OUR PLANET. RIVERS BECOME
CLOUDS, BECOME RAIN, BECOME
RIVERS AND IT ALL BEGINS ALL
OVER AGAIN...
WHAT IS FULL CYCLE?
Full Cycle is the certification for recycled paper products
manufactured in a closed-loop process. This process has
been developed by Antalis and the paper mill group
Arjowiggins Graphic.
In offices, paper continues to be a preferred medium of business
communications; it can be printed and disposed the very same
day or stored in archives for several years. But as with all
consumer products there comes a time for disposal.
Recycling has been around for a long time. But we need to go
further to reduce the waste sent to landfill and find more ways
to reuse the materials we consume.
This is where Full Cycle comes in. Currently only a small
proportion of office waste paper is recovered and returned for
processing back into recycled office paper. Full Cycle is designed
to make this process easy and accessible for everyone.
...WITH FULL CYCLE THE PAPER
YOU USE CAN BE RECYCLED BACK
INTO THE PAPER YOU USE, OVER
AND OVER AGAIN SUSTAINING YOUR
ENVIRONMENTAL CREDENTIALS
AND HELPING TO SUSTAIN LIFE
ON OUR PLANET TOO!

HOW DOES FULL CYCLE WORK?
Post-consumer waste paper is collected from offices across the
UK and France and taken to the Arjowiggins Graphic Mills for
recycling. Here the paper has all the non-paper materials, like
staples and plastics removed before the paper is washed to
remove the ink in multiple de-inking loops.
This produces pulp which is used to make paper. As the waste
paper is already white, the recycled paper has also an equally
high whiteness and brightness without using any additional
whitening processes.
THE WASTE PAPER
COLLECTION ELEMENT
Arjowiggins Graphic purchases a range of post-consumer
waste paper from many waste management companies in the
UK and France. Purchasing around 384,000 tonnes of waste
paper annually, they have the facilities to efficiently manage the
complete process from start to finish.
Arjowiggins Graphic has two recycling Mills. Arjowiggins
Greenfield, located in Chateau Thierry, France, was built in 1997
and acquired by Arjowiggins Graphic in 2008. Greenfield is the
European leader in premium quality recycled pulp production. The
mill is FSC® certified and certified by the French Water Agency for
effluent and waste management.
Arjowiggins Le Bourray located near Le Mens, is an integrated
paper mill with its own waste paper de-inking plant which
produces the pulp needed for paper making. As well as making
high quality office papers the Le Bourray mill also makes very
high quality tissue paper in all the colours of the rainbow.

HOW CAN I BE SURE A PRODUCT
IS FULL CYCLE CERTIFIED?
Look for the Full Cycle label it certifies that the recycled paper
was produced from post-consumer waste paper and recycled in a
closed-loop process. Similar to other environmental standards, Full
Cycle is a material traceability system that follows a predefined set
of rule and the whole process is monitored and audited annually
by Envirosense Consulting the third party appointed monitoring
organisation.
If you would like to use the Full Cycle label on your own printed
communications simply go to www.fullcyclepaper.com and
complete the license registration form. The Full Cycle trademark
label will be sent to you in both JPEG and EPS formats.

WHY OFFER CLOSED-LOOP RECYCLED PAPERS?
QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
Closed-loop recycled paper achieves
environmental excellence:
How does the certification work?
• Maximise the capture of all waste paper
• Maximise the volume that can be re-used
and recycled back into the supply of paper.
• Reduce the impact on the environment by
making its procurement more sustainable
• Reduce the greenhouse gas emissions
• Reduce the level of waste
• Reduce the amount of waste going to landfill
These objectives support the Land Directive of 26 April 1999
issued by the European Union. Its aim is “to prevent or reduce
as far as possible negative effects on the environment, in
particular the pollution of surface water, groundwater, soil and
air, and on the global environment, including the greenhouse
effect, as well as any resulting risk to human health, from the
landfilling of waste, during the whole life-cycle of the landfill”.
This legislation also has important implications for waste
handling and waste disposal.
To prevent or reduce as far
as possible negative effects
on the environment, in
particular the pollution of
surface water, groundwater,
soil and air, and on the global
environment, including the
greenhouse effect, as well as
any resulting risk to human
health, from the landfilling
of waste, during the whole
life-cycle of the landfill
Besides using the eligible recycled papers everything else is
managed for you behind the scenes. The process starts with
waste paper collections and sorting out the non-recyclable
contaminations. The sorted waste paper is recorded and
transported to the Arjowiggins Graphic paper mills where it is
turned into pulp and then paper and then delivered back to
UK consumers via Antalis. To ensure that the recycled papers
really are Full Cycle certified the whole process is monitored and
audited by Envirosense Consulting.
Anyone can buy Full Cycle certified recycled papers and show the
Full Cycle label on their printed communications, but you’ll need
to get a license first, simply go to www.fullcyclepaper.com and
complete the license registration form.
For print and paper businesses, Full Cycle provides a solution to
offer a broad range of closed-loop recycled papers that meets
the government, public sector and like-minded private sector
organisations seeking best practice specification.
