Signing on to CitiDirect® for Securities Using the SafeWord® Card
CitiDirect® for Securities users who access the Transaction Manager and/
or Corporate Actions applications will be required to utilize a SafeWord®
Card. The SafeWord Card will generate a dynamic or unique password that
will be required during the CitiDirect for Securities sign-on process.
The SafeWord Card employs two-factor authentication: something
you know—a PIN—along with something you have—the token.
IV. How to Change Your SafeWord® Card PIN
NOTE You can cancel the following procedure at any time by pressing Ctlr.
1. Using the SafeWord® Card, press ON to activate the device.
2. At the Enter Pin or EP prompt, enter your existing PIN.
3. The Host or EH prompt is displayed; ignore this prompt and
press Pin to indicate you want to change your PIN.

the CitiDirect for Securities Sign-On Screen, then click on Login. You will then be
granted access to CitiDirect for Securities, and the Home Page will appear.
Password Note The display area on the device contains the following valid alphanumeric
characters:

V. SafeWord® Card Helpful Hints
Memorize your PIN; do not write it down.
Change your PIN regularly, and be sure to change it immediately after your first successful sign-on.
Never give out your card or reveal your PIN to anyone.
Do not use sequential numbers for your PIN since they may easily be guessed.
When you are not using it, keep the card in a safe place.
Do not bend your card.
Never use a sharp object to press the buttons on the card as it may damage the device.

Signing on to CitiDirect® for Securities Using the SafeWord® Card – Local
Regulations
For enhanced security purposes and as required in certain jurisdictions by
regulation, clients are required to access their accounts via multi-factor
authentication via Safeword card, plus an additional static password. Please
be sure to bookmark this URL address, https://new.securities.citidirect.com
for future access to CitiDirect® for Securities.

1. At the CitiDirect for Securities Sign-on Screen, type your CitiDirect for

on Login. You will be directed to the static password page.
NOTE: If you do not utilize the URL address; https://new.securities.citidirect.com,
you will be re-directed to this URL and will be required to re-enter your User ID
and Safeword Card pin again.
This action will re-direct you to the static
password page.

III. Signing On to CitiDirect® for Securities Using the Static Password
1. After a successful safeword authentication at https://new.securities.citidirect.com, you will be redirected to the static password authentication screen.
NOTE: When visiting this page for the first time, you will be required to choose “Mail My Password”.
This screen will display your e-mail address on file and is where your temporary password will be
sent. If this e-mail address is incorrect, please contact your local Citibank representative. You are
required to type/copy that temporary password into the Password field at
https://new.securities.citidirect.com. This action will prompt you to create a new, static password
you will use for future access to the site. When accessing these accounts, you will be required to
authenticate using both steps; beginning with your User ID and SafeWord Card® pin as the first
step, followed by entering the static password.
In the event that you forget your password, please follow the steps as stated above and choose
“Mail My Password”. You will receive an email which will include a temporary password. You are
required to type/copy that password into the Password field at https://new.securities.citidirect.com.
This action will prompt you to create a new, static password for accessing your accounts.
