Industrial Attachment Programme and Vacation Internship Programme Modules EG3601: Industrial Attachment Programme (IAP) EG3602: Vacation Internship Programme (VIP) Modular Credits Duration Pre-requisites/Preclusion 24 weeks Students who have completed VIP are not allowed to apply for IAP *Only Year 3 students may apply 12 09 Jan - 23 Jun 2017 * 12 weeks during summer vacation 6 09 May - 29 Jul 2016 * 08 May - 28 Jul 2017 * Students who have completed IAP are not allowed to apply for VIP Only Year 2 and 3 students may apply * denote for AY2016/2017 EG3601: Industrial Attachment Programme (IAP) for CEE Students Students admitted into the Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) degree programme from AY2014/2015 onwards are required to undergo a compulsory internship programme via faculty placement or self initiated; except for students listed in #. Depending on the degree enrolled, the internship programme is either in the form of a 24-week internship under EG3611 Industrial Attachment (IA) or a 12-week internship under EG3612 Vacation Internship Programme (VIP). The internship module count toward the faculty requirement. Students in Design-Centric Curriculum (DCC) are to follow the internship requirement of the home department CEE. # Students who are in the following programmes are exempted from the compulsory internship requirement: Double Degree Programme (DDP), Concurrent Degree Programme (CDP), Chemical Sciences Programme (CSP), Global Engineering Programme (GEP). Polytechnic-direct intake students are also exempted. Students who choose to do internships under EG3611 or EG3612 may use the modular credits as “free electives”. The students need to make a request to Faculty Liaison Officers i.e. Ms Lisa Moo ([email protected]) or Mr Scott Pereira ([email protected]) to be added manually to the Enhancement Programme Portal. IAP Frequently Asked Questions 1) When do I go for Industrial Attachment? There are 2 Industrial Attachment periods each year. - January to June - July to December Dean's Office will announce to all Stage 3 students via the NUSNET email when the Faculty-placement is open. You may only begin your IA only after receiving online approval from Department IA coordinator (CEE Prof Richard Liew). You request may be rejected if your submission is later than the commencement of IA. Our CVE and EVE students should go for IA in Semester 6 or Semester 7. Exceptions: Students want to do IA in Semester 5 Students who are going SEP in Semester 6 and if they have an inclination to do IA in Semester 5, they must 1) Get SEP approved, email the SEP acceptance memo as supporting document to Department ([email protected]) 2) Choose companies that are not consultancy related or companies that require knowledge in design project 3) Prepare to source for companies and go through self initiated IA process if the available internship portal job positions after round two is limited. 2) Can I apply for internship when I am in SEP abroad? Yes, you are expected to check your emails regularly and log into the internship portal. You can inform company that you are now in SEP if they require an interview with you. 3) Where do I see the guidelines for Industrial Attachment? http://www.eng.nus.edu.sg/undergrad/epmc/ 4) Can I go for overseas Industrial Attachment? Yes, it must be engineering related and do take note of the guidelines at http://www.eng.nus.edu.sg/undergrad/epmc/ 5) Where do I find the companies I need to apply for IA? You should log to the internship portal and search for the companies posting first. You will be required to apply as self initiated internship if you need to be attached to the organization. 8) Can I do VIP and IA ? No, you are not allowed to do both VIP and IA on credit basis. 9) Students who do not need to do compulsory IA but wants to do IA on non credit basis Non-credit internships need not be reported to the university, however, should you require the internship to be supported by the university you should fill out the attached form and submit it to the Centre for Future-ready Graduates (CFG) at [email protected]. An internship support letter can be provided upon approval of your application. For further enquiries in regards to non-credit internships, you may contact CFG. 10) What is Top-up Allowance offered by Talent@Maritime Singapore Introduced by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), the Maritime Cluster Fund aims to attract more students into the marine industries upon graduation through providing them with the opportunity to receive on-the-job working experience, and be involved in work on maritimerelated projects during their attachment. Qualified students may claim up to S$400 top-up allowance per month for your internship. Applications are open twice a year. Your mentor will be connected with you and your supervisor throughout the internship to help you complete the internship successfully. 12) Who are the approvers of my internship placement?
