What is the A2?
Description of Content Areas
The Radiologic Technology Program is
using an online Admissions Assessment
from an independent third party (Elsevier
Evolve) as a part of the admissions
procedure. All applicants to the Program
must achieve minimum scores in five
content areas to qualify for admission. The
applicant will be awarded points based on
their cumulative score on the A2.
Reading Comprehension – written
scenarios used to measure reading
comprehension: identifying the main idea,
finding meaning of words in context,
passage comprehension, making logical
inferences, etc. (47 items; 60 minutes;
qualifying score is 75%)
When do I take the A2?
The test must be taken during the program
application period (04/01 to 05/31). Please
see the “Testing Schedule” section of this
information sheet for tentative testing dates
and registration period.
How often can I take the A2?
You may take the test once per application
period. If an applicant takes the A2 more
than once, the first score will be used for
admissions purposes.
What do I need to bring?


Photo ID
Pencil or pen
How do I register for the A2?
Complete and submit the registration form
with a NON-REFUNDABLE money order,
cashier’s or bank check for $35 (subject to
change) payable to Kapiolani Community
College to the address specified on the
registration form. PERSONAL CHECKS
WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. The
registration form must be post-marked or
hand-carried by the appropriate registration
deadline. LATE REGISTRATIONS FOR
THE A2 WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
Vocabulary and General Knowledge vocabulary terms commonly used in both
general English-speaking settings and in
health care fields (50 items; 50 minutes;
qualifying score is 75%)
Grammar - basic grammar, including parts
of speech, important terms and its use in
grammar, and commonly occurring
grammatical errors (50 items; 50 minutes;
qualifying score is 75%)
Math - math skills needed for health care
fields, including basic addition,
subtraction, multiplication, fractions,
decimals, ratio and proportion, household
measures, and general math facts that are
useful for calculating drug dosages and
solutions (50 items; 50 minutes; qualifying
score is 75%)
Anatomy & Physiology - general
terminology and anatomical structures (25
items; 30 minutes; qualifying score is 75%)
How do I prepare for the A2?
Review related class notes. (Please see the
“Description of Content Areas” sections of
this information sheet.) HESI A2 review
books by Evolve or other publishers are
also available online.

Tests may be rescheduled IF space is
available AND the change is made a
minimum of one week prior to the original
and rescheduled test dates.
Testing Locations
Tests will be administered on the Kapiolani
Community College campus. Examinees
will be informed of the test date and
location via e-mail following registration
submission.
When will I know my scores?
Scores are available via your Evolve
account upon completion of your test, and
will be available for your review at any
time.

Tests will be administered from 9:00am – 3:00pm; examinees may check in from 8:15am. There
will be a one-hour break for lunch (lunch is not provided).

** Please see the Testing Schedule and registration dates. Attempts will be made to schedule your test for one of the
dates you have specified, but is subject to availability. You will receive an e-mail confirmation of receipt of
registration within one week of its receipt. You will receive another e-mail after the registration period has closed
with the date and location of your test.
