Thanks to inspiration from The Happiness Institute, Youth All Access has developed the Youth Responsibility Act (YRA) as
a tool for youth, ages 8-18, to showcase life experiences through statements – then later in the program through visual
and technological expression. The YRA is a pledge that serves youth from the Greater Pittsburgh Area; which includes
the following school districts: Pittsburgh, Clairton, Wilkinsburg, Duquesne, Penn Hills, Gateway, McKeesport Area, Steel
Valley, Riverview, Plum, Woodland Hills, West Mifflin Area, East Allegheny, and South Allegheny.
Instructions: Please fill out the information below. You can choose to gain one or all eight digital badges. Please be
reminded that 1-7 digital badges will guarantee a certificate of completion; however, completion of all eight (8) digital
badges qualifies you for a certificate of completion and your YRA will be entered into the next upcoming YRA contest.
You must submit a statement of 2-3 sentences for each digital badge you choose. Your response should say how you
accomplished and/or display the qualities of the specific digital badge. Statements should be appropriate (explicit
examples and language is forbidden). If the response is inappropriate or offensive you will be asked to submit a new
response in order to gain the badge requested. You can email your completed YRA to [email protected]
(please make sure the email includes your name and phone number) or if you are unable to email the YRA then you can
drop it off at the Small Seeds office (6033 Broad Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15206) – ATTN: Niasia Moses. For any other

Digital Badge Descriptions
Badges:
What They Mean:
Love of Learning. You love learning new things. You love being an expert and/or being
in a position where knowledge is valued by others.
Bravery. You’re prepared to take on challenges and deal with difficult situations even if
unpopular or dangerous. You have the courage to overcome fear as well as ability to
take a moral stance under stressful circumstances.
Generosity/Kindness. You’re kind and generous to others, and never too busy to do a
favor. You gain pleasure and joy doing good feeds for others. In fact, your actions are
often guided by other people’s best interests. At the core of this particular strength is
acknowledgment of the worth of others.
Teamwork / Citizenship. You’re a great team player, excelling as a member of a group.
You are loyal and dedicated to your colleagues, always contributing your share and
working hard for the good and success of the group.
Leadership. You’re a good organizer and you’re good at making sure things happen.
You ensure work is completed by you and also maintain good relationships among
group members.
Self-Control. You can easily keep your desires, needs and impulses in check when
necessary or appropriate. As well as knowing what’s correct you’re able to put this
knowledge in to action.
Passion, Enthusiasm. You’re energetic, spirited and passionate. You wake up and look
forward to most days. You throw yourself, body and soul, in to all activities you
undertake.
Technological Citizen (Technology). You can shape and/or change the digital age by
using social media applications. You are appropriate with your media usage and are
able to bridge the gap between generations with your knowledge of current events.
