RHA MISSION STATEMENT
The Residence Hall Association serves residents by creating a living and learning experience within
University-owned residence halls. The intention of the Residence Hall Association is to promote
student intellectual, educational, cultural, physical, and social welfare; design and facilitate
programs and informational services to all residents; and provide opportunities for residents to
achieve fuller participation in our campus community through leadership growth and development.
The Residence Hall Association serves as a representative body and voice between residents and
the Associated Students, University Administration, student organizations, residence hall staff, and
the Chico community.
The Residence Hall Association is one of the largest student-run organizations on the CSU, Chico
campus, representing over 2,000 residents. RHA extends its efforts and influence with the aid of our
regional affiliation with PACURH (Pacific Affiliation of College and University Residence Halls) and
our national affiliation with NACURH (National Association of College and University Residence
Halls).
SAMPLE BIOGRAPHY/ STATEMENT OF INTENT
My name is Michelle Kirkpatrick and I am excited to submit my name for the position of RHA VicePresident. I am a second semester freshman from San Jose. I don’t know what my major is yet – I
am taking a variety of General Education classes to see what I enjoy.
I currently live in Sutter Hall but plan to live in University Village next year. I have been an active
member of Sutter Hall Council this year and really enjoy working with the other members to put on
events.
I think that it would be fun to be the RHA Vice President because I really enjoyed Spirit Week this
year and would like to increase the amount of social events between residents and Hall Council
members in each community. I also think that we could do a better job of recognizing each other
for the great work that is happening in University Housing and as Vice President I think that I could
help develop the recognition program.
I think that someone should vote for me because I am dedicated, a hard worker, and really excited
about this opportunity. I was a member of my high school lacrosse team and a member of the year
book staff so I have a lot of experience working in teams. I know that I can help make a difference
in this position.
A vote for Michelle is a vote for success!
