What does Altenergy
Incorporated do?
We design, build and install practical solar
energy solutions. We know that a welldesigned system can efficiently harvest
solar energy and use that energy to reduce
your dependence on nonrenewable sources.
Located in Charlottesville, Virginia, we work
with homeowners, architects and general
contractors on both new construction and
renovation projects. When you call us, we will
make a site visit to determine what means of
generation will work for you.
What technologies are
working for most people?
We are focusing on solar thermal systems
because they offer the best payback options.
We also build photovoltaic electricity systems
(PV), and will perform an energy audit on
existing structures. Practicality is our guiding
principle, and we know that a system that pays
for itself and provides seamless operation is a
realistic system.

What is solar thermal?
When you gather heat from the sun and move
it into water, you have a solar thermal system.
Since hot water is usually in demand, and
accounts for as much as 30% of a family’s energy
consumption, we like the fit. You can also heat
living space with hot water, so systems can be
even more comprehensive and efficient.
What happens when the sun
doesn’t shine?
Practicality forces us to design systems that
ensure hot water at the tap when you turn it on.
Altenergy Incorporated knows how to use the
very best and efficient technologies to build a
reliable hot water plant for your home. A system
that will pay for itself and provide your family with
clean, renewable energy.

Taxpayers are allowed one credit equal to
30 percent of the qualified investment in
a solar panel up to a maximum credit of
$2,000, and another equivalent credit for
investing in a solar water heating system.

By using renewable energy, you are helping to
fight rising air pollution levels, a major contributor
to health problems in Virginia. Because it is an
extremely reliable and cost effective source of
heat and electricity, the use of solar energy has
grown 25 percent every year for the past 15 years.
Energy produced from the sun goes even further
to add to our nation’s energy independence.
