Christmas Hamper Program 2016
Thank you for sponsoring a family last year. I’m sure you can imagine what Christmas
would be like in a new home with no presents under the tree and no food on the
Christmas table. The holidays can be a very sad and lonely time for families who
have recently left the shelter. The Christmas Hamper Program is a collaboration
consisting of WIN House, Lurana Shelter, La Salle, Valeda and Katherine Drexel Place.
We’re focused on what we can do to support Edmonton’s domestic abuse victims
and their families. Together, we will make victims victorious.
There are four plans available for those who wish to sponsor a family this year. They
are described below. There is no minimum amount that sponsors have to spend. It is
a donation and up to the sponsor to decide.
1. The Gift Purchase Plan: You will be contacted with information on the family/
families that you are sponsoring. You will be provided with a family information
sheet as well as a general wish list. You are then able to purchase gifts for the
family using their wish list as a guide line. *No used items/donations
2. The Grocery Plan: The Grocery Plan for the Shelter Christmas Program is unique.
Rather than donating actual food items, we ask that you donate gift certificates
to a local grocery store. This provides families the freedom and opportunity to
choose their own food based on their dietary needs.
3. The Gift and Grocery Plan: For those of you who are able to give a little bit more,
we invite you to sponsor a family with both gifts, and grocery certificates. You will
be provided with a family information sheet as well as a general wish list.
4. Cash Donation Plan: For those of you who would like to donate but
may not be able to personally shop for gifts, WIN House is happy to
help out. Simply send a cheque payable to Edmonton Women’s
Shelter Ltd. along with your sponsor information sheet to the

Please indicate “Christmas Christmas Sponsorship 2016” by November 30th. We
will then use this money to purchase gifts for a family on your behalf. Please
note the deadline for this sponsorship option, as it is critical in ensuring that we
have enough time to purchase the gifts.
