For the first time in the history of the CHAMALÄON Theater we welcome the company Cirk La Putyka from
Prague. As one of the oldest Czech puppeteer dynasties, the members of Cirk La Putyka live a sincere love for
new circus in all its facets. Acrobatics, puppetry, dance and drama meet here at the highest level.
A show to rivet you to your seats: vivid, wild and refreshingly different.
Inspired by the director’s family history and the personal roots of the artist, the show ROOTS invites you to a
thrilling and visually stunning circus experience. Together with the eight performers we dive into the imaginative, touching and lovingly chaotic world of Cirk La Putyka. Look forward to a fun journey from the beginnings
of the circus with oddball characters and dazzling costumes, to powerful artistry, dynamic choreography and
a stirring soundtrack of New Circus. A world on stage has been created with infinite attention to detail, which
has a few surprises awaiting the audience; palpitations and goosebumps are guaranteed.

Cirk La Putyka
Cirk La Putyka is a contemporary circus company established in 2009 with the Artistic Director Rostislav Novák
and the General Manager Vít Novák, both appointed by the company’s board.
“We are trying to transcend the lines between acrobatics, theatre, contemporary dance, puppetry, concert and
sport. We are striving to create our own specific theatre poetics and find a perspective on the genre as a whole.
The theme, the story and the message are as important as the professional approach to both - individual theatre
genres and circus disciplines for us.”

Rostislav Novák
Principal of Cirk La Putyka. Award-winning performer, choreographer, director, actor, acrobat, puppeteer and
artistic director of Cirk La Putyka.
Eighth generation of famous Czech puppeteer dynasty.
Nominated for Best Actor and Talent of the Year 2010 in the Czech Film Critics Awards.
In 2010, won two major prizes during a single week for La Putyka: Theatre Personality of the Year at the New
Wave Festival; Alternative Theatre Award presented jointly by theatre newspaper Divadelni Noviny and Sazka
ticket agency.
In 2009, La Putyka won Czech Production of the Year, awarded by Divadelni Noviny (Theatre Newspapers).
In 2008, ran the Czech Republic workshop for Cirque de Soleil.
In 2011, Theatre Personality of the Year.
In 2013 and 2014, Nominated for the Czech Personality of the year (Newspaper MF DNES)
The team
The whole ensemble has more than 50 members, including actors, musicians, acrobats, puppeteers, dancers,
as well as production, technicians and other important professionals. All members are top professionals in their
chosen discipline, but they are also able to cross the line into several other areas of work. The team is still growing
with each new project, but still keeps the same ideas, direction and energy.
The collective of Cirk La Putyka has already played over 750 shows, visited 17 countries (China, Australia, USA,
Brazil, Finland, France, Germany, UK, Croatia, Austria etc.) and collaborated with 215 people from 19 countries.
