Hello!
Thank you in advance for your willingness to help by volunteering at one of the City’s Seniors Centres or
satellite locations! Your contribution to our program and activities will enhance the experience for all
members.
In this package you will find:
 Volunteer Application form
 Volunteer Code of Conduct
 Overview of the Centres
 Expectations of Volunteers
 List of Volunteer Opportunities
So, you are no doubt wondering, "how do I sign up to be part of the fun?"
To begin the process, all you need to do is complete the enclosed ‘Volunteer Application and Reference
Checks’ and return it to Tracy Drenth, Supervisor, Kiwanis Seniors’ Community Centre, 78 Riverside Dr,
London ON N6H 1B4, either by mail or by dropping it off at the front reception desk.
Once your application is received, you can expect the following:
1. If there is a position available that suits your interests, you will be contacted to attend an
interview (if there isn’t currently a position available, your application will go on file).
In your interview, the following will occur:
1. Together with your Supervisor, you will review our Volunteer Manual and your roles and
responsibilities in your new position. Included in the Volunteer Manual is a confidentiality
waiver which you will be required to sign.
2. Your Supervisor will help you complete an application form for a Vulnerable Persons Police
Check with the London Police Dept. (you will be responsible for taking the completed form to
the Police Dept and paying for your check to be completed, and picking up your check and
delivering to the City once complete). Your Supervisor will provide you with a volunteer letter,
and therefore the cost of your check will then be $10. You will be responsible for payment of
the check.
3. Together with your Supervisor, you will agree on a start date and sign a Volunteer Agreement
that will outline the position, dates and times you’re expected at work.
4. You will have an opportunity to ask any questions you have about volunteering at our Seniors
Centres and/or satellite locations, and your roles and duties in your new volunteer position.
Again, thank you for volunteering your time at one of our Centres. We hope that the time you spend
with us is rewarding, fun and meaningful.
Kind Regards,
Tracy Drenth, Supervisor
