Rittal develops new enclosure lights
Sensationally bright
Rittal is market launching a new generation of lights
especially for enclosures. To meet global requirements, Rittal is setting new standards with energyefficient and high-performance LED technology
providing up to 1,200 lumens. It also offers comfortable connection and mounting possibilities. The
system supplier for enclosure technology is offering
many innovative details that ensure ideal illumination within the enclosure and which greatly simplify
installation tasks.
Herborn/Hanover, 26 April 2016 - Lighting is often
neglected when planning an enclosure. The lighting is
correspondingly poor when work has to be performed on
the enclosure. However, identification of the different
colours of wiring, for example, is vital during installation
or maintenance work. “Work on enclosures is made
much simpler through our innovation, which employs
state-of-the-art lighting technology. It also helps to avoid
errors during installation, maintenance or repair work, so
preventing expensive delays,” says Christian Dietrich,
Enclosures Product Manager at Rittal. He added: “The
simple mounting of the new lights also saves valuable
workshop time.”
Targeted illumination
Two models of the new enclosure lights, with luminous
fluxes of 900 and 1200 lumens, will be going on sale.
The new lights use state-of-the-art LEDs as sources of
illumination. They ensure a high level of energy efficiency
and have a much longer lifetime than other light sources.
A lens made of transparent plastic, with integrated
Fresnel lenses, serves to ideally light up the enclosure.
These focus the light in such a way that the entire

enclosure is illuminated in a targeted way, even at the
bottom, which means the light reaches exactly those
places where it is needed – without being scattered into
the exterior.
Rapid installation and simple mounting
Optionally, the enclosure lights may be turned on and off
by an integrated switch, a door switch or a motion
detector. Moreover, the lights are each equipped with a
socket. Besides this, the connection technology simplifies assembly work and permits rapid installation. The
lights may be attached via pre-assembled cables with
connectors. The lamp connection can be swivelled
through 90 degrees, so that the cable can always be
easily introduced, even in narrow enclosures with a width
of only 600 mm.
Integrates perfectly in enclosures all over the world.
The new enclosure lights fit ideally into the Rittal TS 8
baying enclosure system. They are perfectly adapted to
the frame section and can be fitted without any loss of
space. One special advantage for quick installation: one
person can mount the lamp alone and without any help.
This is because each model has three mounting options:
with a magnetic retainer, a clip fastener in the TS 8
section or by screw fastening.
Besides this, the lights can be used worldwide thanks to
a wide-range voltage input. This is a great advantage for
experts from the controller and switchgear manufacturing
and mechanical engineering sectors who are active
internationally. Regardless of whether the plant is located
in Germany, the USA or Asia, the same lamp can be
installed in each enclosure. Changes to the electrical
planning or the parts list are thus made superfluous. The
lights also have the appropriate internationally important
approvals (e.g. from the UL, for the US market).

With this development, Rittal is also simplifying many
procedures in the fields of purchasing and assembly.
Controller and switchgear manufacturers, as well as
mechanical engineering companies, benefit from the
simpler ordering and storage process, as just a few
versions meet every requirement.
