6 POINTS OF CLIMATE CHANGE RESPONSE

RETYPED SO I COULD SUBMIT IT ON CANVAS PROPERLY *
Planet heating up
The fact that the planet is significantly getting hotter. This can be measured and proven; yet
people still argue that climate change is a myth or something that has no basis. Greenhouse
gases are deadly. We are aware of these things and there is statistical data to support it, but yet
we continue to mess up our planet. Mostly with ignorance and turning a blind eye.
Overpopulation and Our carbon footprint are some of the biggest issues that surround climate
change.
Troube?!
We are not seeing as many immediate effects yet, although there have been some. For our
future generations, they will not be able so lucky if we keep on the same path. They will
experience way more extreme weather. Floods that will be unmanageable. May even affect our
government and laws. Animals will significantly become more and more extinct, and the
extreme weather will cause people to move around. This will be problematic because we are
already seeing the effects of overpopulation. People will start fighting over safe land and
territories- history will almost repeat itself- just this time it will be about not enough space.
What To do?!
Energy Efficient light bulbs, try turning off the lights when possible.
Save energy
Fly less, drive less, recycle your trash and items. Use stuff till you can’t anymore instead of
buying all new items. Flying less will emit less gases into our air supply –which is significantly
helpful
Eat less meat- try and reduce our carbon footprint
Going solar-electric cars
Compost
Using less plastic
Optimistic Scenario?!
We hope that earth is less sensitive to the greenhouse gases. Best case scenario- the planet is
resilient and adapts to all of these changes. As well as the planet itself- we have to hope that
humans and animals are able to survive and morph along with the climate and damage. We are
also lucky to be in the age of technology- perhaps we can come up with a technological solution
to a lot of the changes that the earth will undergo. The government begins helping people live
healthier lives –creates more energy efficient policies that facilitate these good ideas.
BUT
We can in turn be more sensitive to these gases, and be in a ton of trouble. People tend to
often put all of this on the backburner. These issues exist and they are real. It can become a
totally different planet in a few years. We can start to experience harsher climates- summers
are already pretty brutal- and some of the winters have been really cold.
MEAT REDUCTION
Beef is the most environmentally damaging meat. Cattle demand a lot of land, and they also
produce a lot of waste which contains Methane Gas. This gas causes damage to our planet. But
all meat has a negative effect. This contributes to the carbon footprint. In order for there to be
a dramatic change, it has to be a communal effort. Power is in Numbers.. people have to start
somewhere.
WORST CASE?!
There can be a collapse in food production, accompanied by dramatically escalating prices and
eventually ; mass starvation. This will turn humans into savages.
There will be a complete disintegration of the polar ice sheets. Fast rising seas, people would
have to abandon their homes and land
The weather will be like a wild-card and completely unpredictable
Monsoons will occur frequently
We can also in turn have harsh droughts.
How Fast will seas Rise?!
About a foot per century
Billions of dollars on fighting erosion
If this continues, and emissions remain unchecked, the temp of the earth could soon resemble
a past epoch called the plioscene.
Oceans rose 80 ft more than today
Not sure how fast / only way to tell is to look at history
