Photo finish
(Winner by a nose)
One card is drawn. All players participating in a photo finish secretly answer
the same card. Once everyone reveals their answer to the card reader,
players continue to move beyond the finish line. The player to move the
furthest beyond the finish line wins! If there is still a tie, the tying players
continue to draw and answer the same card, until there is a winner.
Note: You cannot use a character’s special move in a photo finish, so
make sure to use your move before it’s too late.
(On your marks...)
Select the character of your choice by
taking the character card and playing
piece of the same color. Use the card as a
reference to your special move, and put
your playing piece on the starting block.

Players, on your
marks, get set,
The player (or players) who finish in last place must pay the winning
player one million dollars.** (see alternate rules below)

GO!
Alternate rules
Determine who goes first
(Get set...)
The dumbest player will go first. If the dumbest player cannot be
determined or there is a tie, then players fight to the death.*
(see alternate rules to the right)
Play the game
(Go!)
On your turn, one of the other players will draw a card and read you the
question. You will be asked, “How many spaces do you want to move?”
or “To what color space do you want to move?” followed by four options
(A, B, C, and D). Make your choice (you do not have to know the answers),
then listen for the answer and move 0, 1, 2, or 3 spaces accordingly.
(Just in case)
If you want to play a more difficult version of the game (know-it-all)
then players must know the answer of the trivia question they answer,
in order to be allowed to move accordingly.
* If fighting to the death is frowned upon in your area, then the
youngest player wins when breaking a tie or disagreement in who
should go first.
** If the loser does not want to pay a million dollars, the player who
finished last may instead tell the winner how lucky he/she was, and
how he/she just got all the easy cards, how stupid the game is, how
unfair life is, and other various excuses.

The question cards
(How far you go is up to you)
There are three types of question cards. With all three questions are
four options, and depending on what you choose you will always
move either 0, 1, 2 or 3 spaces. The three types of question cards are:
The character cards
The Cheater
NUMBERS:
How many spaces do you want to move?
The Sore Loser
(Orange)
A. The number of countries that border the Sargasso Sea
B. The number of hearts in an octopus
C. The number of people named Oscar to have ever won an Oscar
D. The number of dogs that survived the Titanic
The Hot Shot
LISTS:
How many spaces do you want to move?
The Flirt

B. The number of Kentucky Derby winners listed
C. The number of Dr. Suess characters listed
D. The number of food dishes listed
The Jokester

The Rich Kid

The Troublemaker

The Cheerleader

D. The color of the star that appears on the Vietnam flag
(Green)
(Pink)
The Whiz
COLORS:
To what colored space do you want to move?
(Purple)
23
The Bully
(Blue)
You do not have to know the answer, simply choose A, B, C or D. Your
goal is to move as many spaces as possible.
Let’s say Player1 was given the first example above (numbers), and
Player1 answers “C” (to move the number of spaces equal to the
number of people named Oscar to have ever won an Oscar). The
reader gives the answer: Oscar Hammerstein is the only person named
Oscar to have won an Oscar (for Best Song in 1941 and 1945). Player1
moves one space.
Next, Player2 receives the third example above (colors). Player2 chooses
“D” (to move to the space that is the color of the star that appears on
the Vietnam flag). The reader reveals the answer: The Vietnam flag is red
with a big yellow star. Player2 then moves to the next yellow square. If
Player2 was on a yellow square, then Player2 does NOT move; however,
if Player2 was on orange, then Player2 would move 3 spaces.
For number cards you always want to answer the highest number
possible. For list cards you want to answer which of the options
contain the most in the list. And color cards will always depend on
what square you are on. You want to answer the color that is furthest
from you, and avoid answering the color you are on. You will always
move 0, 1, 2, or 3 spaces. The exceptions are the special moves made
by the characters, or as indicated on the game board.

Special character moves
(An extra boost)
Every Triviathon character has a special move that is unique to that
character’s identity. You can only use your special move ONCE during
the game (and before you reach the finish line), so you must decide at
what point during the game it is most advantageous to use your
special move. (refer to the character cards for a description of each
individual character’s special move)
