We commit to the actions below.
Part 1 of 3: Completing actions
Please complete at least 3 actions - you can add more if necessary.
Action 1 title: TRAINING WORKFORCE
I know that services are designed around me and my needs
What we are going to do:
Embed a culture of awareness and understanding within our services by educating and
training our workforce enabling them to listen and respond effectively to vulnerable
residents living with dementia, their families and their carers, signposting and referring
them to additional support and advice services where appropriate
Action 2 title: TALK TO US
I have the knowledge and know-how to get what I need
What we are going to do:
Encourage people living with dementia, their families and their carers to talk to us at an
early stage in their diagnosis so that we can support them to live well in their own homes,
working with our partners to promote independent living solutions and involve people living
with dementia in the decision-making process
Action 3 title: WORKING TOGETHER
I have a sense of belonging and of being a valued part of family, community and civic life
What we are going to do:
Work with our colleagues delivering services in the community to ensure residents living
with dementia feel safe and supported where they live and are enabled to participate in
local activities that provide fulfilling opportunities and have a say about what happens in
their neighbourhoods
Part 2 of 3: Making a difference
1. Consider why you want to be a DAA member. How will you establish what actions
are important locally for people affected by dementia?
Eastbourne Borough Council and Eastbourne Homes Limited, as members of Eastbourne’s
Local Action Plan (short version) v1
Dementia Action Alliance, have made a commitment to delivering services that are designed
with and accessible to people living with dementia and their carers, enabling them to ‘live
well’. In order to achieve our ambitions we have agreed to run a dementia friendly services
pilot across the next six months, primarily within our housing and home visiting teams and
living well services (STEPS).
2. How would you want to review the effectiveness of these actions?
A project team has been established and its first task is to raise awareness about dementia
through a series of training sessions for participating staff. We will review these actions set
against our key objectives detailed above regularly with staff and local residents and
stakeholders including the EDDA.
