CTRA Environmental Project Ideas
1. Install hand dryers in the bathroom (proposal), track paper towel usage/waste in
restrooms
2. bigger garbage cans in lunchrooms, big bags in little cans now
3. lunch trays need to be paper or washable, (compostable 10 cents or less each)
4. Institute CTRA Recycling Program : bottles, paper, signage and bins in every class
plus caf and and general space
5. Institute Composting Program : already bins
6. Master Gardners: Research, plan and Implement small school garden or garden
bins : flowers, lettuce, herbs, etc.
7. Create a Biggest Recycler (or Collector) Competition (ie Biggest Loser); different
color teams.. Biggest Loser energy program
8. Green Squad (club)
9. Solar Powered Dance (proposal)
10. CTRA Renewable Energy (proposal)
11. Reusable Water Bottles, research, design, proposal, (and distribute). Possibly
collect bottle deposits to fund project.
12. Prom Dresses. There are many teachers in the school who are not that long out
of high school (or have access to others not that long out of high school) and
may have some laying around.
13. Implement Batteries Recycling Program
14. Research conserving water use for restrooms in new building. (Proposal.)
15. Research power strips that monitor usage (green charging station for our
laptops). (Proposal)
16. Environmental Public Relations Staff : Raise awareness of being eco-friendly by
putting up signs or stickers with facts of how we're treating our planet now and
what we could do to fix it. Make signs so people know that when you flush the
toilets UP they use less water.
17. Eco Friendly Web Designers : create school webpage about environmental
issues, projects, links to articles.
18. Clothes Swap : Bring in old cloth that we don't use/need & give away to people
in need.
19. Designers Design and Make reusable bags out of empty juice packaging (capri
sun, juicy juice, etc)
20. Eco-Friendly Utensils for Lunch (for example chopsticks, 2 cents a pair)
21. Create an Advisory Board to lobby for environmental responsible decisions on
Goodwin campus.
22. CTRA Lighting Specialists : research lighting issues (motion sensor sensors, bulbs,
etc.)
23. Eco-friendly fashion designers: Fashion show or design board Including items like
: recycled neck tie dress, soda can dress, extension cords for belts : ), etc.
24. Environmental Architects : Build bird and bat houses and put them up around
the Goodwin campus to bring birds back.
25. Nutritionists : Research healthful lunch and snack provider/options (including
vending machines). (Proposal)
26. Research and Implement rain barrel collection program. (Requires collaboration
with gardening and composting teams.)
27. Outdoor Activities Directors : Plan hikes, bikes, camping trips.
28. Public ART Team : Research, design, and create out ART installations/works.
29. Historians : Research and share (ie. Signage, videos, maps, etc.) history of
Goodwin campus and nearby land usage.
