With this grant funding, free Essential Caregiver Training will be offered at the Spectrum Adult Day Health Program in North Andover for as many as 25 caregivers. This training will provide diseasespecific information, support, and skills training to informal caregivers about the physical and cognitive aspects and progression of dementia, as well as specific strategies for dealing with activities of daily living. “Caring for an elderly loved one is extremely difficult for most families”, said Darcey Lepisto Adams, Director of Community Programs. “This grant for the Essential Caregiver Program will help us to provide free education, skills training, and compassionate support to help caregivers navigate the challenges of caring for a loved one with a memory disorder.” Adams added, “We deeply appreciate this funding from the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America which will allow us to continue our mission of serving the healthcare needs of seniors, particularly for clients and families from the Merrimack Valley area.” Spectrum Adult Day Health Program is a program of Northeast Senior Health’s complete continuum of care for seniors on the North Shore.
