Spectrum Adult Day Health Program in North Andover Receives $5,000 Grant
Free caregiver training will be offered for patients with Alzheimer’s disease and their families
North Andover, MA – Northeast Senior Health announced today that they received a $5,000 grant
award from the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America to provide free training to caregivers about key
aspects of Alzheimer’s disease.
With this grant funding, free Essential Caregiver Training will be offered at the Spectrum Adult Day
Health Program in North Andover for as many as 25 caregivers. This training will provide diseasespecific information, support, and skills training to informal caregivers about the physical and cognitive
aspects and progression of dementia, as well as specific strategies for dealing with activities of daily
living.
“Caring for an elderly loved one is extremely difficult for most families”, said Darcey Lepisto Adams,
Director of Community Programs. “This grant for the Essential Caregiver Program will help us to
provide free education, skills training, and compassionate support to help caregivers navigate the
challenges of caring for a loved one with a memory disorder.” Adams added, “We deeply appreciate this
funding from the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America which will allow us to continue our mission of
serving the healthcare needs of seniors, particularly for clients and families from the Merrimack Valley
area.”
