Culminating task encompassing all aspects of the topic of Future plans and aspirations,
focusing on the sub topics of travel, career and life plans
Task:
Part 1:
Listen to the recording and answer the questions that follow in English.
(4-5 questions on a text which will include references to future travel plans, career paths and
personal life).
Part 2:
Read a short email from a friend. Write a response of 125 words in Italian.
(The email refers to the context of the recording and serves as a stimulus for the writing task.)

Feedback:
Listening tasks will be returned to students accompanied by a transcript of the listening task
and the marking guidelines. These will be worded in terms of outcomes and descriptors.
Students will also receive the corrected and annotated writing tasks that will serve as a basis
for a rewriting activity.

Italian Beginners Assessment task – Listening text
Part 1 15 marks
The listening text consists of a radio talkback program in which Elena speaks to the fortune teller
Barbarossa. He covers the topics of love and relationships, work and travel.
You will hear the conversation. The text will be broken up into sections. Each section will be
played twice. (see ACER/National Australia Bank exams)
RADIO CONVERSATION
-Buona sera. Qui sul programma radiofonico ci sono io. L’indovino Barbarossa che predirà il futuro
degli ascoltatori. Aspetto la vostra chiamata. C’è una telefonata in linea, sentiamo con chi possiamo
parlare; pronto?
-Pronto.
-Ciao. Buonasera, come ti chiami?
-Elena.
-Quando sei nata?
-Il trenta luglio dell’ottantotto.
-Bene. E che cosa vuoi sapere?
-Mi può dire come andrà la mia vita sentimentale.
-In amore ci saranno delle belle sorprese. Incontrerai una nuova persona, qualcuno che ti
interesserà molto. Però dovrai mostrarti più aperta alla possibilità di un rapporto romantico. Cerca
di essere meno fredda, meno riservata.
-Magari! Io ho sempre avuto questo problema. Davanti ai ragazzi, specialmente quelli che non
conosco, divento timida.
-Nel futuro vedo che avrai una bellissima famiglia con due figli e un marito che ti vorrà tanto bene.
- Bene. Posso chiedere un’altra cosa?
-Dimmi.
-Mi interesserebbe sapere come andrà il lavoro. Al momento non sono molto soddisfatta.
-Nel campo del lavoro in questo periodo succederanno tante cose. Nei prossimi mesi ti faranno una
nuova proposta di lavoro. Questo nuovo lavoro ti obbligherà probabilmente a trasfeririti in un’altro
posto.
