Important Dates
Sleep is Important
February 12: Socialization, 10:00 12:00; Moxham Lutheran Church;
The ideal amount of sleep for preschool-aged children is 10-12 hours per
night. When children don’t get enough sleep, they can’t concentrate, they
have trouble remembering things, they become irritable and fidgety, and
they become vulnerable to colds and flu.
Here are some important things you can do to ensure that your child gets
enough sleep every night of the week, including weekends:
Make time. Don’t allow their lives to get so full of activities that they can’t
get everything done without shorting themselves on sleep.
Set a regular time for bed each night and stick to it. Saying “good night”
at the same time each night will ensure a good night’s sleep. The human
body functions best on a regular timetable.
Be firm about your chosen bedtime. Make sure that they understand that
complaining about bedtime isn’t going to get them anywhere. Alert your
child a half hour before bedtime and then remind them again 10 minutes
beforehand.
Empower your child. Let him pick out his own pajamas to wear, stuffed
animal to take to bed, etc.
Establish a relaxing bedtime routine, such as a warm bath, playing
soothing music, or reading a book. Reading is a great way to help children
drift into sleep.
Create a cozy sleep environment. Keep your child’s room cool, quiet, and
dark (a nightlight is OK).
It’s hard enough for children to get by with too little sleep for one or two
nights, but it’s even harder when sleep deprivation becomes a nightly habit
- that’s because the effect accumulates. Look at it this way, the more sleep
your child gets, the more sleep you get!

For the dough:
Calzones
1 pkg yeast, 1 Tbsp sugar, 1 cup warm water, 1 tsp salt, 3 Tbsp olive
oil,
1 ¾ cup white flour, 1 ¼ cup whole wheat flour
For the filling:
Mozzarella cheese, Marinara sauce, Turkey pepperoni
Combine yeast, sugar and warm water and let set for 5 minutes. Mix remaining
ingredients and then add yeast mixture. Let dough rise, in a warm place, for about 1-2
hours, until double in size.
Roll out a small portion of the dough at a time, cutting two equal sized hearts. Fill middle
with a thin layer of marinara sauce, turkey pepperoni, and cheese and then layer the top
with another heart and crimp the edges together with a fork. Set on baking tray. Bake at
400 for 10-15 minutes until lightly browned. Serve with marinara sauce for dipping.

1. Gather materials: Contact paper, tissue paper, sequins, q-tips, pipe
cleaners, cotton balls pom-pom balls, and tape.
2. Peel contact paper off of backing and tape down to a flat surface, sticky side
up.
3. Allow child to decorate the contact paper (promoting creativity and
using imagination), tearing tissue paper into small pieces (fine motor
development), making snowflakes out of q-tips, pulling cotton balls apart and
sticking to contact paper, and assisting your child with making shapes, letters,
etc.
4. Peel matching piece of contact paper off of backing and cover the decorated
piece of contact paper.
5. Cut duct tape to fit edges and tape around edges to seal the contact paper.
6. Hang up on your window, wall, or refrigerator and ENJOY! Ask your child to
“find the red ball,” “count the green sequins,” “find the square,” etc.
