The Pendergast Elementary School District Governing Board
has called for a Special Bond Election to be held November 8,
2016.

What is a Bond?
Bonds are loans made to the school district used to purchase
capital items and make capital improvements to existing facilities,
such as building or renovating a school or purchasing school
buses.

The 2016 Bond program will provide improvements to the learning environment for students,
staff and families at every school district site. The bond will address three primary areas to help
the district create a user-friendly technology system that provides:

Completion of the 1 to 1 computer initiative for
students in grades Kindergarten -5th grade
Classroom computers and digital devices for
student learning and instructional purposes
Improvements, replacements and
upgrades in the districts technology
infrastructure, including security, network
capability, wireless applications, school and
student computer access

The District is recommending that bond funds be used for safety upgrades and maintenance,
repair, replacements, and refurbishing of schools and District facilities:
Replacement of aging or non-serviceable school
air-conditioning / heating units
Energy efficient interior and exterior lighting
Upgrading of fire alarms and security systems
Roof repair/replacement
Replace worn tile and carpets
School-specific repairs, equipment replacement and
improvements
Replacement of furniture

District is recommending that bond funds be
used for the replacement of aging buses and
vehicle fleet.

INCREASE
There would be no tax increase as a result of the successful passage of the bond election.

The Pendergast District is committed to responsible
stewardship of bond funds.
Arizona law requires the district to clearly identify how the
bonds will be spent in the voter information pamphlet.
Additionally, school districts must hold public hearings
annually to inform the public on the progress of how the bond
proceeds are spent.

Communication on the bond fund usage will be shared with
stakeholders on a consistent basis on the PESD website located
at www.pesd92.org and though other channels.
There will be an oversight committee appointed by the
Superintendent that will be established consisting of district staff,
community members, parents, and business leaders to report to
the governing board and stakeholders on the progress and
accountability of each project.

The Bond election will be on the Tuesday, November 8, 2016
regular election ballot.
Early voting for this measure will start Monday, October 10,
2016.
