Notice is hereby given to the general public and to all members of the CSU Channel
Islands Events Committee:
A meeting of the Events Committee will be held on Wednesday from 8:00 to 8:50 A.M. at
California State University Channel Islands, Student Union Building Meeting Room B,
located at One University Drive, Camarillo, CA 93012, to consider and act upon the
following matters:

used the Snapchat filter

Chief Christopher asked if we had a Snapchat because we
should have announced it earlier

Director Mumford says some people disagree with having a
Student Government Snapchat

Senator Ewing says we should be careful with what we do with
Snapchat

senate
v. Senator Fernandez thinks that walking around with the green
cards was a good idea
w. Chief Justice Burns says strength is interns walking around and
being interactive with the students

President Noyes says strength was having many SG members
were there in attendance
y. Chief Justice Burns says Student Government members wearing
polos were a strength

Senator Fernandez says a strength was location due to foot traffic
aa. Senator Fernandez asks if the microphones were tested before
the event
bb. Director Mumford says they were tested and during the event
one microphone broke and had to change the setup for the
event
cc. Senator Fernandez says an opportunity is having more time to
prepare
dd. Senator Ewing says we should invest in our own microphones
ee. President Noyes says we can’t get new equipment since we
created our budget for next year
ff. Chief Justice Burns says he saw the Student Union helpers were
not fully knowledgeable about the sound equipment

hh. Director Mumford says students don’t know what Doc does and
don’t know what to ask him

Director Mumford suggests that Doc should do an interactive
event with the students

Senator Ewing affirms that Smooth Talk with Doc sounds like an
event where you will listen to Doc and not ask questions
kk. Director Mumford says opportunity is to do an activity with Doc

Chief Justice Burns says we should have made videos leading up
to Smooth Talk with Doc

Director Mumford said we did that last year for President
Rush’s last Pizza with the President
nn. Senator Ewing asked if Smooth Talk with Doc went well
oo. Director Mumford says as Student Government we did our job
well and were flawless in its execution
pp. Chief Christopher remembers Senator Ewing saying something
about the SUB Courtyard and students not knowing what it was
called
qq. Director Mumford says an opportunity is to define SUB
ii.
Noon Forums (20 minutes)
a. President Noyes says we have 5 panelists for the Eating on a
Student’s Budget Noon Forum: 1 student work with food pantry, 1
student works at Cal Fresh, 1 person from food share and alumni,
1 professor health science nutrition, and 1 professor food insecure
in college
b. Senator Ewing asks if the red means it is changed on the script
c. President Noyes explains that red and crossed out means it is
gone
d. Chief Justice Burns says that if we start a sentence with a
negative then it will stand out in people’s minds
e. Senator Fernandez suggests to switch exclusion and expansion?
f.
Senator Ewing says that in a certain paragraph that the word
“today” is mentioned a few times and to take a few of “todays”
out
g. Senator Fernandez suggests changing “ewe” to “we”
h. Director Mumford suggests adding the panelists’ biographies

President Noyes says question 1 and 7 were added because ASI
wanted it

President Noyes says question 3 was reworded because last time
it made no sense
k. Director Mumford says question 7 is repetitive

Chief Justice Burns says he likes it because the panelists can go
back and remember what they forgot to say in previous questions
m. Senator Fernandez agrees with burns
n. President Noyes says we’re not video recording the event
because the Sexual Assault Noon forum is controversial
o. Director Mumford says that ASI couldn’t change the flier due to
lack of time
p. Senator Ewing says Noon looks like no on
q. Chief Justice Burns says we could squish the title

Director Mumford says we should have received this a week ago
and last year we had a few options to choose from for the flier

Chief Justice Burns asks what we want to see on this flier

Director Mumford suggests changing the overall flier and is
disappointed with this flier and she will talk about it with Michelle
u. Director Mumford says the Supporting Survivors Noon Forum flier is
as bad
v. Director Mumford says the Supporting Survivors Noon Forum flier
looks like it is victimizing survivors
w. Director Mumford says the picture should be hopeful

Senator Fernandez says that the color should reflect Sexual Assault
Awareness Month
y. Senator Ewing says maybe its purple because of Take Back the
Night because the color for the event is purple

Senator Fernandez says that the date is wrong
aa. Director Mumford says this is just a prototype
bb. Director Mena asked if Kristina made this
cc. Director Mumford says yes along with her assistant Meghan that

dd. Senator Fernandez says a person spoke out about Senator
Fernandez’s personal experience
ee. Senator Fernandez said that the person didn’t conduct
mandated reporter correctly
ff. Director Mumford says that the Noon Forum Advisory Committee
that they discussed how to address those who’ve been sexually
assaulted
gg. Senator Fernandez said a person violated certain Title IX
procedures
hh. Senator Fernandez doesn’t feel safe with this person
