Introduction
Please read through this Guidebook and use it as a reference to answer any questions
related to the Recital, because…
During the Recital Shows (as well as Tech and Dress Rehearsal), we will not have time to
answer questions. We will be focused on making sure that each of these events runs
smoothly.
If, after having done this, you still can’t find the information you want, we welcome your
phone call/e-mail so that we can provide the information you need.
Important Notes:
1. At the time of the recital, your account with D.H.P. must be at a zero balance. If it
is not, your child cannot perform in the recital.
2. Please, do not record the event.
3. Please turn cell phones off or keep on vibrate/silent so as not to disrupt
performance
4. During the Recital, Students (3-8 years old) must have one Parents/Relative with
them the entire time back stage.
5. Please label your child’s costumes and shoes with their name.
6. Parents of younger children- Please help us create a Recital that runs smoothly, is
free of stress and focuses on everyone’s safety. Please make sure that during all
rehearsals/shows your child is following the rules- students can’t be running amok
exploring the theatre, tap dancing on the wood floors or writing on walls. We like
performing at City Theatre, so let’s only give them reasons to invite us back again!

BACK STAGE PROCEDURES
(City Hall)
1. Dancers need to come dressed in their costumes and ready to perform one hour before the
show starts.
2. 30 minutes before the show starts we need all students to sit quietly with their groups.
3. After students are done performing we ask that they go back to their spots in city hall and sit
down until their group is called to line-up for the last number.
4. If you are a father of a young child and your daughter needs your help to go to the bathroom
please take them in the men’s room or ask someone to take them in the ladies room.
5. I know the kids are waiting back stage for a long time. Feel free to bring something to keep
them entertained. IPods, coloring book, snacks, water. Anything to make the wait more
enjoyable.
6. When the show is done students will be sent back to city hall. We ask that they go to their
spots and sit down. One parent will have to come into city hall to pick them up. If students
drive themselves they will need to show their license to leave.
7. I will wait with my 3-6 year olds on stage after the show. Parents must come to the stage to
pick up their child.
8. Please check to make sure you have all your belongings with you before you leave.
9. Dancers need to pick up after themselves. Please throw away your trash.
10. Parents of younger children- during all rehearsals/shows please make sure your child is
following the rules- students can’t be running amok in the theatre, tap dancing on the wood
floors or writing on walls.
Please let us know if you have any questions. Working together as a team will help the recital run
smoothly. Please let a volunteer know if students are not following the rules. They will handle the
situation appropriately. Any student that refuses to follow the rules will need a parent with them the
entire time. Please do not yell at our volunteers.
