NEWSLETTER – April 2017
Easter Competitions
Our annual competitions for Reception, KS1 and KS2 will take place in the final week before we break up.
For KS2 children their eggs can be brought in from Monday 10th April and the deadline is 3.30pm on Tuesday 11th
April. The judging will take place on Wednesday 12th and the winners will receive their prizes on Thursday 13th April.
For reception class, year 1 and 2, the Easter Bonnet competition will take place on the morning of Thursday 13th
April.
There will be a first, second and third prize in each class. Let’s hope we all enjoy a little bit of fun as we approach the
great feast of Easter.
Key Stage 1 raffle
The draw for the two meerkat toys will take place on Tuesday 4th April at key stage 1 assembly. The two winners will
receive their prizes immediately.
All the monies raised will go to St Bede’s Mini Vinnies Guide Dogs for the Blind appeal. In advance, can I thank
everyone for buying the raffle tickets.
Sporty Tuesday
Can I wish good luck to all those children who are competing in either the City cross country championships at
Blakelaw fields, or the swimming gala at West Denton pool on Tuesday 4th April.
Internet safety
Just a quick reminder to be vigilant about what your children are accessing online.
One of our parents has had a worrying experience with a game called Roblox. This is a children’s game and many
parents may not be aware that there is a chat facility attached to this game. One of our pupils was logged in to an
older sibling’s laptop and was communicating with another player. The conversation was not appropriate for a child
and thankfully the conversation was intercepted by the parent before it went too far. The parent continued the
conversation as the child and was shocked by the content of the conversation.
Please check privacy settings / age restrictions on all games. Roblox is a children’s game but this demonstrates how
easily children can be put a risk.
Holiday
Just a reminder to parents that St Bede’s will break up at 3pm on Thursday 13th April, and we return on Monday 24th
April.
