Nursery Coordinator

Reports to: Church Board
Position Summary: To ensure the nursery is a well staffed, secure, nurturing
environment, where each parent can feel confident their child will
receive the highest quality of care and ministry.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
 Recruit and schedule volunteers and paid workers.
 Assure unpaid volunteers are present for the following:
o Sunday School
o Sunday morning worship
o Sunday evening worship
o Wednesday night church and AWANA
o Other events as designated by the board
 Assure paid workers or volunteers are present for the following:
o Annual Bible Conference
o Annual Mission Conference
o Other events as designated by the board
 Fill in for absentee volunteers or paid workers.
 Create and submit to the board for approval all nursery rules,
guidelines, policies and revisions. As a minimum this document
should include provisions for the following:
o Assure all workers are informed of all nursery rules, guidelines
and policies.
o Assure changing pad covers, crib sheets and any other item to
come in contact with children are washed and sanitized prior
to every use.
o Assure information sheets are created for each child including
any information needed from each parent.
o Assure nursery supplies and inventories are kept current.
o Assure toys are cleaned and checked (broken, lost pieces or
dead batteries) weekly or prior to any service hour.
o Hourly rate to pay for services of paid workers.
o Age range of children to whom nursery services are provided.
o Control of traffic in and out of the nursery zone.
o Minimum qualifications for volunteers and paid workers.
 Assure weekly cleaning service has cleaned the nursery and report
any deficiency to the board for corrective action.
 Assure volunteers or paid workers are reminded of weekly duty via
phone, e-mail and or text message.
 Assure toys are cleaned and checked (broken, lost pieces or dead
batteries) weekly or prior to any service hour.
 Assure hours of service for paid service are submitted to the Church
Office Manager and checks are distributed to workers.
 Assure the operation of the nursery is within budget and all expenses
are identified with the correct budget general ledger code.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each
essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of

Education/Experience:
High School education, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must have a basic working knowledge of personal computer office software
products, email applications, or equivalent.
Language Ability:
Ability to read, interpret, and apply instructions from documents such as,
operating manuals, training manuals, and procedure manuals. Ability to prepare
correspondence or communicate effectively with church members, employees,
and vendors. Ability to hear, speak and communicate clearly in English.
Math Ability:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole
numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and
percent and to make accurate measurements with liquids or dry powders.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in
situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety
of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is located in a climatecontrolled zone or in their home office. Occasionally it may be necessary visit a
workers home or a vendors business or attend seminars or off site meetings.
Travel, in varying weather conditions, by personal vehicles or commercial carriers
may be necessary.
The noise level in the environment is varied from moderate to high.

The majority of the time will be spent interacting with young children in a nursery
setting or at a home office desk using the telephone and computer. This will
require the use of fingers and hands to feel and reach. The employee is required
to stand; walk; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee is
occasionally required to climb or balance. The employee is frequently required to
lift up to 40 pounds. (Required lifting limit is dependent on the upper age range of
children serviced.) The vision requirements include: close vision, distance vision,
color vision and ability to adjust focus.
