Company signals intent to enhance regional expansion in key markets by building
one of the strongest SCM management teams
SINGAPORE, 13 July 2009 – In a move to further extend its regional wings, Singaporebased supply chain management (SCM) company YCH Group has recently expanded its
senior management team to explore new frontiers in the dynamic Asian logistics industry.
Despite the current economic downturn, YCH Group is focused on aggressive growth with
priorities on China, India, Indonesia and Korea – consumption-driven markets that have
been deemed to provide vast opportunities for logistics and supply chain management as
next engines of growth. The move to fortify its management team will ensure YCH Group’s
readiness to immediately tap into growth in these regions when the global economy
gradually moves towards recovery.
Customers and friends of the media attended a roundtablecum-luncheon session at YCH Corporate Headquarters on 13
July, where Chairman & CEO Dr Robert Yap shared some
regional supply chain industry trends in Asia, and the steps
that YCH is taking to tap the consumption-driven growth
engines and anticipated recovery of the manufacturing sector.

Addressing anticipated growth in Consumption-driven Markets
While YCH Group has always been recognized for its comprehensive presence and worldclass operations throughout the Asia Pacific region, its next major focus is to further deepen
its forays into the second-tier and inland cities of these Asian countries. Through building
depth into its current networks, the Group hopes to be able to better refine last mile
distribution and consumer goods fulfillment processes to streamline the last leg of the endto-end supply chain.
In line with this new focus, the Group has appointed Mr Goh Yong Seng as CEO of YCH
China and Mr Sujit Varma as CEO of YCH India. Yong Seng will take charge of the entire
development of YCH’s logistics and supply chain business across YCH’s China network
while Sujit will oversee the overall logistics and supply chain function of YCH’s network in the
Indian geography. These appointments are synergistic with YCH Group’s focus on
strengthening its top management team to better fulfill the supply chain requirements of the
consumer-driven Indian and Chinese markets.
Don Gadsden, a veteran in the consumer goods industry with extensive management
experience in various consumer companies has also joined YCH as President of YCH
Indonesia & Philippines to drive the growth of YCH in these two archipelagos. As Head of
the Consumer Business for the Group, he will also market and develop supply chain
services for the Consumer Business and work towards boosting the growth of YCH’s cold
chain and logistics for the fast moving consumer goods business in the region.
Strengthening ODM supply chain capabilities to boost manufacturing efficiency
Apart from end consumer fulfillment, YCH Group will also be strengthening its Vendor
Management Inventory and Original Design Manufacturer (ODM) supply chain capabilities,
given the increasing trend of global Electronics and Hi-Tech companies outsourcing their
manufacturing to ODMs in Taiwan and China.
YCH’s solutions will enable ODMs to reap benefits such as improved product lifecycle
management, flexibility, speed-to-market and reduced costs in their bulk production and
contract manufacturing activities. Christopher Lim, a sales and marketing professional with
over two decades of exposure in supply chain business process management has joined
YCH as Head of ODM Supply Chain. He will lead the strategic account and business
development of YCH’s ODM portfolio.
Advancing into South Korea
In addition, YCH has also officially launched YCH Korea, which began full operations on 1st
July this year. The South Korean operations is led by Mr Stanley Hwang, President of YCH
Korea. Stanley has extensive experience in managing freight and logistics, and will leverage
on his familiarity with the Korean market to drive the developments of YCH Korea.
With the addition of this new entity, YCH Group hopes to strengthen its service offering to its
multinational clients with a comprehensive Pan Asian network and award-winning SCM
solutions, as well as offer Korea-based Logistics/SCM capabilities in the electronics,
chemicals/healthcare and consumer sectors to service Korean companies seeking to
compete effectively in the exports market.
Strengthening the Financial aspect of the Supply Chain
On the financial side, Mr Joshua Lye has joined YCH as Chief Financial Officer. His
responsibilities include streamlining the financial and governance frameworks for the
company to drive the strategic management process in line with corporate growth. He is also
in charge of enhancing the Group’s forecasting and performance analysis to ensure a
seamless integration of YCH’s financial aspect to its physical and information flows as the
industry starts placing more emphasis towards the securitization of goods in the supply chain.
Scaling greater heights through Strategic Talent Deployment and Regional Expansion
These recently created positions are part of the company’s forward-moving growth strategy
for 2009 to expand regionally through forming one of the strongest SCM management teams
in Asia. The strategic appointment holders will report directly to Chairman & CEO of YCH
Group, Dr Robert Yap. He says “YCH Group is happy to have our new team members
onboard to complement the existing strengths of the current management team. These
aspiring and talented individuals have extensive experience in various facets of the SCM
business and are motivated leaders who will help propel YCH to the next level of SCM
excellence. We look forward to have them contribute to the growth of YCH as we continue to
be the preferred Asia-focused SCM partner to MNCs in the region.”
YCH Group will also continue to forge new grounds in the region and beyond, through the
development and implementation of innovative and customizable supply chain
solutions. These proprietary solutions will also serve to strengthen its partnership with
customers that are keen to expand regionally. "YCH has been a pioneer for Singapore
logistics companies venturing overseas. With its successful and rapid regional expansion,
YCH is a good example of a leading supply chain company that is swift to tap on emerging
market opportunities. IE Singapore has been working closely with YCH to understand their
internationalisation needs, and we have supported YCH through its various stages of its
regional growth, from developing their business capabilities to finding overseas partners in
new markets. IE Singapore is happy to have contributed to YCH's success and we
encourage Singapore logistics companies to also adopt this pioneering spirit of innovation."
said Mr. Chua Taik Him, Deputy CEO, International Enterprise Singapore.
