In a separate wastewater supply pipe ➀ the warm
grey water (from the shower, the washing
machine...) feeds through the ThermoCYCLE®. An
ingenious filter system ➁ ensures that contaminants in the grey water (such as hair, fluff or
sand…) are kept back. The heat exchanger ➂
extracts the heat contained in the filtered grey
water. The cooled wastewater ➃ then flows into
the sewers. The fully automatic filter cleaning system ➄ flushes out any contaminants ➅ at individually definable intervals, also feeding them into the
sewers. This ensures smooth operation without
disruption. A bypass ➆ also ensures guaranteed,
smooth flow.

The exact stratification of the FORSTNER HS
enables maximum utilisation of the heat energy
recovered using ThermoCYCLE®. For this reason
the ThermoCYCLE® can only be used in combination with this technology system.

Heat recovery from grey water is the efficient use of heat that flows
irretrievably into the sewers without ThermoCYCLE®.

What means grey water?
Grey water is wastewater from the bath, shower, washbasin and washing machine.
It is created continuously in almost constant quantities – independently of the season or the weather.
Field of application
The ThermoCYCLE® system can be used everywhere
where warm water flows off, as in a sports or leisure
facility, a hotel, indoor swimming pool, camping
site, retirement home, rehabilitation centre, familiy
home or multi-family house.

What means heat recovery?
Everyone knows that good insulation keeps warmth
inside a building. There are other sources of heat,
besides room heat, that should not leave your building,
namely the 28°C - 40°C warm wastewater from your
shower, washbasin or washing machine … (grey
water). Unfortunately this thermal potential discharges into the sewers all around the world.
Forstner has developed the ThermoCYCLE® heat
recovery system in order to use this heat source efficiently. The highly efficient process of the patented
ThermoCYCLE® extracts valuable energy from the
grey water as it flows off. Without seperate costs this
heat is used indirectly to pre-heat service water
and/or to support the heating system.

Conditions of installation
In order to use grey water you need a wastewater
pipe system that is separated from the black water
(e.g. waste water from toilets or the kitchen). This is
easy and inexpensive to realise in new buildings or
in the course of general renovations.
