Intent to Deregister Ballera Gas Plant and Chookoo Storage
Ballera from Gas Bulletin Board
The Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO), as the Bulletin Board (BB) Operator is hereby
providing notice that it deregistered Ballera Gas Plant (Ballera) and Chookoo Storage Ballera
(Chookoo) from the Gas Bulletin Board, effective 8 February 2017.
Deregistration is based on the following information provided by Santos Limited (‘Santos’), operator of
Ballera Gas Plant and Chookoo Storage Ballera respectively:


The facility has ceased operation as a production facility,
There is no capacity to operate the facility as an independent storage facility
Based on this information, AEMO considers that Ballera Gas Plant and Chookoo Storage Ballera have
ceased to be BB facilities. In accordance with subrule 154(2)(a) of the National Gas Rules, AEMO
has removed the facility from the BB facilities list with effect from 8 February 2017.
On deregistration, these facilities will not be required to provide any operational data. All historical
data will however remain and will include Ballera and Chookoo up until the day prior to the effective
date.
If in future the operational status of the facility changes so that it again becomes a BB facility (for
example, if production recommences or the facility is used as a storage facility), the operator of the
facility must apply to AEMO for registration under Part 18 of the National Gas Rules before that
change occurs.
