Hello boys and girls!
My name is Mama
Bear. I will help
explain how your
brain works and how
we can make it work
even better.
What is the
Fast ForWord®
Program?

We Exercise our Bodies
Exercise

3
Brain Exercise!
This is what
your brain looks
like inside your
head!
4
How Does Your Brain Work?
Information travels
through our brains
like a car on a roller
coaster.
Have any of you
ridden a roller
coaster?
5
How Does Your Brain Work?
Have you ridden
in a car like this
on a roller
coaster? Was it
fun?
6
Amazing!
7
Have you ever
worked on a maze?
Did you find your
way out?
Information travels
through your brain
like that.
Some Things are Hard to Do
Have you ever tried
to ride a bike with a
flat tire? It’s hard!
Some things are
more difficult when
our brains need
exercise.
8
We Want Our Brains
to Work Really Well!
When our tires are
full, it’s really fun to
ride! When our
brains exercise,
learning is really
fun too!
9

A sunflower grows from a seed. This is a
sunflower seed.
Look at its parts. See what is inside.
The hull is on the outside.
It keeps the seed safe.
The seed is on the inside. A seed
coat covers the seed.
A boy plants the sunflower seed.
He covers the seed with dirt.
A stem and root grow.
Leaves grow next.
Then the leaves open.
The plant grows. It grows a tall stem.
It grows more leaves.
It grows a big flower.
The flower blooms. It grows seeds.
Soon more sunflowers will grow
