By SEAN MURPHY Associated Press TULSA, Okla. — A state lawmaker called Thursday for an independent review of Tulsa’s reserve deputy program as more questions arose about the training of a 73-year-old volunteer officer who says he accidentally shot a suspect to death while the man was being held down by others. Some of those questions stemmed from a statement reserve deputy Robert Bates made about his past law enforcement experience and training in a report about the April 2 fatal shooting of Eric Harris. Bates claimed on the form that he received training from Arizona’s Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office on responding to active shooters. But Lisa Allen, a spokeswoman for the office, told The Associated Press on Thursday that Bates’ name couldn’t be found on a list of people who are allowed to participate in such training. “The active shooter classes are only open to qualified armed posse people and he isn’t one of them,” Allen said. A message seeking comment on the training left with Bates’ attorney, Clark Brewster, was not immediately returned late Thursday. The Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office said it would conduct an internal investigation of the shooting, but state Rep. Mike Shelton fears a growing mistrust of police after a series of high-profile killings by law officers around the country. “There are too many variables here for me and anyone else to believe that this investigation is going to be impartial,” Shelton, a Democrat from Oklahoma City, YOUR FINALLY HOME AT HERB JONES! 2015 B u ick VE RAN O 2014 Ch evy CRUZE 2010 Ch evy S UBURBAN 4 X 4 L TZ You r Fin a lly H om e a t H erb Jon es You r Fin a lly H om e a t H erb Jon es H erb Jon es $37,900 PRICE : 2014 Ch evy IM PAL A L TZ You r Fin a lly H om e a t H erb Jon es You r Fin a lly H om e a t H erb Jon es * H erb Jon es $16,5 00 PRICE : $27,5 00 PRICE : Ricky Whitlock Used Car Mgr.
