RADIAWRAP A water heater has a thermostat that is set to maintain a constant water temperature. Throughout the day, even when not being used, a water heater loses heat causing the water heater to work day and night to maintain the set temperature. Without even knowing, homeowners are spending substantial amounts of money on lost heat. The RadiaWrap Insulation Kit solves this problem by insulating a water heater and reflecting lost heat back into the tank. The RadiaWrap Insulation Kit has been proven to save up to 20% on water heating costs. In addition to this great savings, the water in a water heater stays hotter longer and homeowners gain more hot water without buying a bigger tank. Kit includes: • 48” x 123” sheet of RadiaSource • 15’ of foil tape • 20 foam tabs Tools required for installation: • Scissors or utility knife • Tape measure www.RadiaSource.com RADIAWRAP INSTALLATION GUIDE 1. Clean water heater with damp cloth or rag. Allow to completely dry before installing wrap. 2. Create four equally spaced rows of five foam tabs around water heater. Begin first row at top of tank and last row near bottom of tank with the other three rows equally spaced between top and bottom rows. 3. Trim a 1” piece of foil tape and tack top corner of RadiaSource sheet so 48” side runs up and down water heater. Wrap RadiaSource sheet around water heater until the two ends meet. Cut material to proper length (varies depending on circumference of water heater) and tape vertical seam with foil tape. Excess material will be used in step four. Tack another piece of foil tape opposite the first at top of tank. Note: if water heater is taller than 48”, repeat this step to cover exposed areas. Trim around pressure valve and on sides of thermostat to create a flap cover for easy access. 4. For gas water heaters: use excess material to cut two ½” circles and install on top of tank. Cut at least a 1” clearance around water pipes and exhaust vent. Secure material to top of tank with foil tape. Warning: do not cover exhaust opening on top of tank. Flue vent must be left in place over exhaust opening. For electric water heaters: use excess material to cut a circular piece to cover top of tank. Cut slits for wires, pipes and relief valve. Secure material to top of tank with foil tape. NOTE Gas Heaters: Recommended for gas water heater only if the owners or operating manual provides instructions for insulating the water heater. Electric Heaters: Check to be sure the heater is wired to meet local building specifications. All Heaters: Review your owner’s manual and follow any installation instructions it provides for insulating a water heater.
