Aranda is a cane less dwarf Dianella, with a more or less clumping habit. It has smooth deep green semi gloss, gently arching foliage. Flowering in Spring & Summer with deep blue coloured flower buds and star shape flowers held among to slightly above the foliage, followed by purple berries. Grows in full sun to 70% shade. Aranda thrives in sandy loam, clay loam, free draining clay soils. It performs exceptionally well in improved garden soils. Ideal as a tiny border plant, with a clean neat appearance in the landscape. Also a very compact plant for mass planting. Similar in appearance to Mondo grass, yet with the hardiness of Lomandra Longifolia, a favourite of gardeners wanting low to no irrigation gardens. Erindale tends to remain more compact resembling mini Mondo grass while holding its foliage colour with minimal leaf burn. In partial shade it will grow fractionally taller and remain lush in appearance. It grows well in coastal humidity and inland climates. Erindale will handle frost with only minor leaf burn which can be trimmed off in spring if untidy. Spikes or panicles of tubular furry blooms, thought to resemble a kangaroos paw, are borne on slender stems, usually during the warmer months. Flowers occur in green and deeper shades of gold, pink, red, and russet brown, depending on the species. Dwarf forms are available. In summer it does go slightly more green, which is a good thing, as this allows it to easily survive the hot months. As a patio pot plant, Sunrise really shines. It looks great, but best of all, unlike other vivid pinks it keeps looking great. If after many years you are happy for this plant to form a small tree, let it go, but if you want it kept low, cut it back 15cm above ground in Autumn or Spring and it will re-shoot well.
