Academic Guidance Framework Annual Review Year: 20XX-20XX To be completed annually by the Associate Deans Student Experience at the end of the academic year and submitted to University AESC (September) and the University Workload Planning Group. This document provides the opportunity to reflect on the success of the University’s academic guidance framework, with particular reference to: a. b. c. d. The University Statement on Academic Guidance The management of the Academic Adviser’s framework (including the workload planning allocations) The management and success of the Academic Advisers training programme The Academic Adviser pages of the Supporting Students Webpages The annual review also provides the opportunity to define actions for the future enhancement of the framework. 1. THE UNIVERSITY STATEMENT ON ACADEMIC GUIDANCE See: University Regulation E12 at: http://www.brookes.ac.uk/regulations/current/other/ Please reflect on the currency of the statement and suggest any modifications that would enhance the statement or improve its accuracy. Then, identify any areas of practice that are not meeting the expectations of the statement and suggest actions that might increase alignment. Finally note any resulting actions and duplicate the actions in the Action Plan at the end of the Annual Review. Enter text here… Actions: 2. PROGRAMME LEVEL STATEMENT ON ACADEMIC GUIDANCE See: Programme Handbooks Please report on how many programmes are including statements in their handbooks and the quality of the statements. Are there any actions required to increase the number or quality of the statements? Please note any resulting actions and duplicate the actions in the Action Plan at the end of the Annual Review. THE SUCCESS OF THE ACADEMIC ADVISER FRAMEWORK See: http://www.brookes.ac.uk/student/services/handbook/ Please look at the data available from NSS, PTES, Brookes Barometer, APTT etc. to reflect on the qualitative and qualitative success of the Academic Advisers Framework including: Student perceptions of the support provided by their Academic Advisers (NSS, PTES, Brookes Barometer). Staff perceptions of the role of the Academic Adviser (incl. Academic Advisers, Programme Leads and Student Support Coordinators) (FAESCs) The total number of Academic Advisers (APTT Dashboard) The number of contact records recorded on the Moodle Academic Advisers Tab - (numbers only - 0, 1, and 2 or more) (APTT Dashboard) The type of contacts (email, face to face etc.) recorded on the Moodle Academic Advisers Tab (APTT Dashboard) The topography of contacts over the year recorded on the Moodle Academic Advisers Tab (APTT Dashboard) The number of student comments made over the year recorded on the Moodle Academic Advisers Tab (APTT Dashboard). THE WORKLOAD PLANNING TARIFF FOR ACADEMIC ADVISERS See: http://www.brookes.ac.uk/services/hr/handbook/workinghours/ Please reflect on the efficacy of the current workload planning tariff for Academic Advisers and provide evidence to support any recommended changes to the tariff. This section will be forwarded to the University workload Planning Group for consideration.
