Name: _________________________________ Micrography [mahy-krog-ruh-fee] ) Art Project Micrography is the incorporation of art and text. The text is usually associated with the art form, helping to emphasize a certain theme or message. It is also defined as the art or practice of writing in very small characters- think of drawing microscopic objects or drawing things that are so small that they must be viewed through a microscope. You will be creating a micrographic selfportrait that shows off your true characteristics and identity. PROCEDURE! Step One: Bring in a photograph of your face or take on with the class IPAD. The photograph needs to be as big as our blank pieces of paper. ( We can enlarge with the photocopier if necessary) 1. Trace all major outlines of the face on to tracing paper ( use window or overhead). Include neck, shoulders, eye brows, hair lines. Don’t make the nose a ‘triangle’ and don’t’ do individual teeth. Step Two: Copy the contoured lines on to a good copy paper by shading the back and tracing over your lines. Step Three: Fill in with words! The actual lines (ex. neck, chin) are just written on with words. You may start to notice the smaller the letters and the less space between, the more "filled in" the image appears. This part is all done with pencil. Step Four: Next step is to extra fine point sharpie over the words. Level One Less than 30 strength attributes are used Level Two Level Three Words are on the portrait but it seems incomplete or rushed Some thought went into positive / negative space, could be more detailed Good use of positive / negative space, detailed Level Four 30 or more strength attributes are used and list is attached Creative use of positive/ negative space, highly detailed and polished ( no eraser lines )
