within the nursery and would like to thank
all parents for helping us with this
process. If you still have a dropping
off/collecting children form could you
please bring it to nursery as soon as
possible.
Policies
We are looking for
parents feedback on our
new healthy eating policy.
This can be found in the
main corridor as well as our meals and
snack menu. If you can take a few
moments to read and offer feedback this
will be much appreciated. We have worked
with the nutritionist and cook to ensure
our snack and meals are in line with the
Setting the Table guidelines. If you would
like more information on this, it can be
found online, or please ask Joyce, Carrie
or Julie who will be happy to help. For
your information I have included the
snack menu at the back of this newsletter.
Income Maximisation
Income Maximisation is a
facility where an outreach
financial support worker will be
on hand to provide support and
advice on money/welfare matters. If you
would like an appointment please see
Carrie, Joyce or Julie.
0-2 Learning
The Rainbow Room would
like to welcome
everyone back from their Easter break.
We are continuing to focus on individual
aims using the Pre-Birth to Three as
guidance. We encourage parents to feel
free to have a look at their child’s profile
which is situated within the playroom. All
children have the opportunity to choose a
finger puppet/book to take home each
week. Each month we resource and
observe children’s play, this month we are
focusing on schematic play which looks at
how children learn/play.
2-3 Learning
This month the children are
learning about Transport and
we will be arranging some
outings which will provide them
with opportunities to extend their learning
about the topic. A great big thank you to
all the parents who completed our Getting
it Right for Every Child questionnaire. We
had positive feedback and we will display
your comments within the corridor. We
would like to welcome Elaine back to the
2-3 room.
3-5 Learning
This block, the focus
of learning is shape,
pattern and money. As part of the
outcome for money, each child will be
given a bank at nursery to encourage them
to save. Every Wednesday, if you wish to
take part, the children can bring in a few
pence and over time, watch their savings
grow. They will then decide what they
would like to buy. The children are also
designing and making their own models
from junk materials. It would be helpful if
they could bring in any items from your
recycling for this purpose. Could you
please look on the board in the main foyer
to see which items the children should
bring in as this changes weekly.
Sensory Maths
This term the children will be introduced
to sensory mathematics which helps
children to recognise colour, shape and
size through a programme using carefully
structured activities and introduces the
concept of size. The children will also be
introduced to Story Grammar which is a
programme designed to give children a
deeper understanding of the structure of
stories e.g. the beginning, middle and end.
Play on Pedals
The older children within the
3-5 room had the opportunity
to take part in the Play on
Pedals programme which is
designed to ensure all children have the
opportunity to learn how to pedal a bike
before they go to school. There will be an
opportunity for the parents to see their
children using the bikes and gaining a
certificate. Well done!
OOSC
Well done to all the
children who entered art
work in to the Port Glasgow
Bulb Show. The pictures
made a lovely display. All
children have been given
sunflower seeds, please return plant by
16th June. This term we are planning to
have lots of outdoor play in the better
weather. Thank you to all those who
returned the Parent/Carers
questionnaires, feedback is on displayed on
the wall at the signing in/out sheet.
Green Week – 9th – 13th May
The children will be participating in Eco
related activities each day such as Junk
modelling, Recycling, Healthy eating and
Gardening, if you have any boxes, yoghurt
cartons or kitchen roll tubes, could you
please bring them in for the children to
make junk models. We are also taking part
in the National Spring Clean campaign on
Friday 13th May and would appreciate your
support by taking part with your child.
Achievement Walls
Every room has an achievement wall where
we can proudly display your children’s
achievements, however big or small. We
would encourage parents to add your
child’s achivement from home – such as
swimming, dancing, crawling, sleeping in
own bed etc.
