Hybrid League/QT Play: Focus on being a League Play Team APPLYING FOR LEAGUE PLAY Applying for a League Teams can apply online to be placed into a League starting September 10th. Link will be sent via Oregon FTC Update and posted at www.ortop.org/ftc Deadline to apply for a slot on a League Play roster is September 30, 2015 Teams must be nationally registered and the national $275 registration fee paid by September 30, 2015 to be placed into a League. Team Rosters for Leagues will be announced by October 13th. Applying to be a LEAGUE HOST See separate power point slide set for detailed information Schools with multiple teams or non-school affiliated teams can apply to be a LEAGUE PLAY HOST starting September 10th. Link will be sent via Oregon FTC Update and posted at www.ortop.org/ftc DEADLINE TO APPLY TO BE A LEAGUE PLAY HOST is SEPTEMBER 24th. Applicants must have confirmed that a venue would be available during the Meet Schedule prior to applying. Venues could be gym, cafeteria, large atrium or other suitable room with power, tables for pits and room for one FTC Field. LEAGUE PLAY HOST TRAINING will be held In Person on October 11th at the ORTOP office in Portland. Referee and FTA Training will be held October 11th and October 18th (pick one date) Requirements for Forming FTC Leagues • A league can be formed when there are 12 teams in close proximity to each other all desiring to form a FTC League. Rule of thumb is a team should be no more than 45 minutes travel time to league meets. • A league can be formed if one or more of the teams in the league take the responsibility to be League Host. (See below for League Host requirements) • A league can be formed when 12 teams can agree upon a Day/Time to hold the meets according to the Oregon FTC League Meet Schedule. • ORTOP will determine which teams as in which League. • ORTOP will determine which leagues combine for each League Championship. How will Oregon FTC Leagues Work? • Meet Schedule The goal is to form 8 FTC Leagues in Oregon. Each league will have 12 teams. Each league will hold 4 League Meets over 8 weeks according to the Oregon League Meet Schedule. Leagues will hold one meet during each of the following weeks: Week #1: October 20 -26 Week #2: November 3 – 9 Week #3: November 17 – 23 Week #4: December 1 – 7 League Championships Two leagues will be joined together for one League Championship. 4 League Championships will be held. Weekend of December 13/14: League Championship A (Leagues #1 and #2) & League Championship B (Leagues #3 and #4) Weekend of January 10/11: League Championship C (League #5 and #6) & League Championship D ( League #7 & 8) What happens at a League Meet? FTC League Meets are official events. The activities are less formal but are to be conducted in a timely and efficient manner. Leagues Meets should not last longer than 3 – 4 hours. • Set-up/Tear Down: Teams will be expected to help the League Host with set-up and Tear Down. This can be done by establishing Duty Chart and assigning teams to help at a specific meet. Inspection: Teams will pair up and inspect each other’s robots by going through the Hardware and Software Inspection Checklist. The FTA will do Field Inspection and flash the robots with the Field Control System. • Match Play: Teams will play at least 5 matches at each meet. These matches are played in the same manner as Qualifying Rounds at a traditional tournament. Elimination Round is NOT played at a meet. • Iteration/Cooperation: Teams have an opportunity to try out new designs in a competitive environment in a low risk environment. Opportunity to change and try something new two weeks later. Learn from other teams. Try out potential alliance partners. How do League Rankings Work? • Teams receive Quality Points (QP) and Ranking Points (RP) for each Match that they participate in at League Meets. (see Game Manual-I 4.6.7) • The sum of QP and RP for the team’s 10 best League Play Meet Matches* are carried forward to the League Championship and added to the League Championship Qualifying Round Matches. This will generate the League Championship Rankings Sheet used for Alliance Selection. *automated by scoring system- manual adjustments and requests for exceptions will not be considered and all other Match scores are discarded. • Teams advance from the League Championship using the advancement criteria outlined for official FTC Events. (see Game Manual-I 4.8) Judging • There is no formal judging at a meet. • Judge Observer will attend 2 – 3 Meets and walk around and talk to teams providing them an opportunity to practice answering questions about various aspects their work on the Cascade Effects Challenge and team related activities. • Judge Observer will attend 2 – 3 Meets. • No information will be collected or saved for use at the League Championship
