The all-in-one solution is designed for mobility, rapid deployment and durable operation. Available in 20-50 kW model sizes, the modular design of the REC SolarBox makes it multi-functional in itself. And packed into a standard ISO 20-foot shipping container, it can be easily transported worldwide. Key elements: Key benefits: - Reduce diesel costs - Reduce maintenance costs - Profitability - Energy independence - Scalability and portability - Reduce CO2 emissions What‘s in the box? - Solar panels to produce bulk of electricity -Charge controllers to detrmine energy flows -Battery bank to ensure operation outside sunshine hours -Inverter to convert DC power into useable AC power - Backup power from either grid connection or a diesel generator - Central electrical hub can be used for office and/or storage space A reliable power source for a multitude of applications - Supplemental power to rural and island systems - Off-grid power in emergency disaster relief efforts - Supplemental power to industrial, commercial and government customers - Freestanding, off-grid power plants in developing countries, rural areas and islands Minimum requirements: Required to deploy an REC SolarBax are only: - 250 m2 of available space (maximum 625 m2) - Truck access for a 20-foot container Mobile and easy to transport The REC SolarBox enables developing regions around the world to gain independence from unreliable grid power while saving costs along the way. The ideal off-grid solar power plant The 20-foot containers of the REC SolarBox have all electrical components, cables and diesel generator set pre-installed – all from leading suppliers. When the container is delivered to the site as either a temporary or permanent amenity, workers can install an REC SolarBox unit in less than two days without any heavy construction equipment. Once unpacked and installed, space that was previously occupied by the solar panels and mounting structures is freed up for use as a mobile office and/or storage. REC SolarBox in operation: Bantayan Island, Philippines In collaboration with the Red Cross, an REC SolarBox 20 was installed in the Sungko Barangay on Bantayan Island in the Philippines, which had been severely affected by Hurricane Haiyan in November 2013. The REC SolarBox will supply reliable electricity to the island and to the newly installed satellite communications system. This enables connectivity to the internet and video communications, making it possible to use remote diagnosis medical equipment (communicate with doctors offshore) among other possibilities. Financial payback time of REC SolarBox: 4-5 years - After 10 years, effective savings are nearly US$150,000 - AC load: 24 kW (10am6pm); 6 kW all other times - REC SolarBox reduces diesel consumption by 63% - 5% increase of diesel fuel cost annually - Effective diesel cost: US$1.30/L - Diesel generator efficiency: 2.3 kWh/L Assumptions based on REC SolarBox 50 compared to diesel genset only system in the Philippines Pictured above and above-right: REC SolarBox 20 installed and operational on Bantayan Island REC Solar Pte.
