Dear Parents/Guardians,
September has come and gone already! Hopefully your child is getting into a good routine both at school and
at home. Everyone has been working very hard. We really hope the positive attitudes and the students’ hard work
continues.
Just to keep you informed - Wednesday is our Fall Writing Assessment, which will be given during CA class.
This assessment will be given in the fall and again in the spring. We are looking for every student to increase their
scores from fall to spring! In addition, OCTOBER 1ST is the due date for your child’s book report. Hopefully, he or she
has been working on reading a novel and creating a newspaper (based on a rubric given in class). Some students have
been actively working on this during Finish Line time.
If you should happen to have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us at any time! Keep
encouraging your child to do his/her best, stay organized, and be responsible with assignments! Have a great ‘last’
week of September!!

Reading Logs will be checked every Monday for 100 minutes/week and parent/guardian initials
Students should be reading 15-20 minutes each night and recording onto their monthly Reading Logs
 Monthly Novel Project: Newspaper Book Report - to go along with student chosen novel

Please make sure your child is STUDYING his/her CA NOTES in the binder! Vocabulary & Spelling Words are in the
binder as well!! (Note: Spelling will not be given every cycle). Every Day 6 the cycle’s objectives will be assessed.
Study Guides and other worksheets will be sent home throughout the cycle.
