How to update your staff page / profile Please Note: Direct Edit now works is all browsers. Step 1 When you open the UEL website, you’ll need to locate your profile page. For the purpose of this exercise, I’ll be opening the School of Architecture, Computing & Engineering (ACE) staff section. Find the link to your staff profile. Scroll down to the bottom of the page Hidden beside the copyright description is an Edit link. Put your mouse over this area to reveal the link. Step 2 – Log in The TERMINALFOUR Site Manager - Login page appears Select the username text box and enter your usual UEL network username. Select the Password text box Enter your usual UEL network password. Click the Advanced text box Click the Login Type drop down list. And select your school. For example, UEL-ACE is School of Architecture, Computing and Engineering Then, click the Login button Please note: You may have to wait a few seconds for the editing module to load. Step 3 – Update your page In order to edit the page, simply move the mouse inside the red marquee and hover on the buttons. The yellow options border appears. Click the Modify button After clicking Modify, the Content will open into the web editor. Click in the Content text to make changes The Modify Content pop up window appears. To add information, simply click inside any text area and type in text. Some text areas will give you extra formatting options. To use these, simply click inside the text box. Step 4 – Basic Editing, Formatting texts, Inserting Links To format texts, first select/highlight text, then click B for bold/Strong or I for Italics You can also create bulleted lists Press Shift + Enter to avoid creating a double space. To create a link, first select the text. Click the Insert/edit link icon The insert/edit dialog box appears. Select the Link URL text box Type the URL you want this text to link to. (If there’s a page anchor you want to link to, you can use the anchors drop down list.) Use the Target drop down list to decide how this link behaves. (Use these if you want to open the link in a new window or frame.) The Title text box simply provides a simple explanation of the link. Click the Insert button when you’re done. The text is now linked. If the text you’ve typed in exceeds the space displayed on view. You can simply expand the area. Click and drag the sizing icon to do this. Step 5 – Inserting a profile picture When the option to upload an image is available, you’ll see this browse button. For this exercise, I’ll upload a picture for Ann Other. To do this, click the Browse... button The choose file window will appear. Select image. (Please re-size & crop to fit 100x150px. Feel free to email your images to [email protected] If you do not have the tools to so) Click the Open button 1 The file is ready to be uploaded. To save your changes at this stage, click either... 2 o Save as Draft, which saves your changes on the CMS o ...or Update, which will save your changes and queue your page for publishing to the live website. Step 6 - Finished your updates? If you do not complete all changes/updates in one go and would like to revisit the content, you can click on the `Save as Draft’ button Save as Draft button. Once you are happy with the changes, click the `Update’ button. Step 7 – Publish Once you click `Update’ what happens next? - Your changes are then queued up to be published to the live sites during the next publish cycle (We publish School websites twice a day) Please remember to log out from the site when done.
