Report from the Simulation & Data Analysis Working Group NUSTAR week – Kolkota 10/2012 Nasser Kalantar (KVI) On behalf of the NUSTAR SWG For more information please contact : Marc Labiche [email protected] Outline: Main developments within NUSTAR Projects R3B (R3BRoot) HISPEC/DESPEC AGATA Beam profile Simulations for Nuclear Reactions and Structure in Europe (SiNuRSE) - Nasser Kalantar (KVI) FairRoot recent developments Main developments within NUSTAR R3BRoot Simulations: Lots of developments for both existing and future detectors: CrystalBall, CALIFA (barrel + End Cap) , GLAD, NEWLAND, Si tracker, … tracker Califa end cap Neuland Main developments within NUSTAR R3BRoot Effort to use R3Broot as an analysis platform as well as a simulation framework has just started. Collaborative work with LAND02 team is on going. Main developments within NUSTAR Hispec/Despec: AGATA svn repository created and available at http://nnsa.npg.dl.uk/svn/agata Simulations packages developed for the PRESPEC campaign. MOCADI+LYCCA+AGATA, including background. Courtesy of Dan Bloor Main developments within NUSTAR Hispec/Despec: Beamspot calculations at FFL2 (End of LEB and MSV) and at FFL3 (LEB cave) – courtesy of John Winfield See NUSTAR wiki Simulation in list of topics Simulations for Nuclear Reactions and Structure in Europe (SiNuRSE) ML attended the annual meeting In January 2012 The work is well underway Progress is going according to original schedule Some Milestones already reached Task 1: Development and benchmarking of physics based event generators Subtask 1: Development of an event generator for light-ion induced reactions (CEA, U-Liege) √ Subtask 2: Development of an event generator for heavy-ion induced reactions (GSI) Subtask 3: Development of an event generator for elastic proton-nucleus cross-sections and p-n reactions with focus on exotic nuclei (UCM). Subtask 4: Development of an event generator for beta-decay including delayed particle emission (n, p, alpha) (CSIC). Subtask 5: Development of a gamma ray event generator for neutron capture electromagnetic cascades (CIEMAT). Subtask 6: Development of a software tool which allows the use in GEANT4 of cross sections from correct (neutron and ions) reaction data bases for low-energy reactions. (CIEMAT). Subtask 7: Development of an event generator for fusion-evaporation reactions (IFJ) Subtask 8: Improvement of Intra-Nuclear Cascade models for a better prediction of one-nucleon-removal channel (CEA) Task 2: Deals with the development of virtual Monte-Carlo platform Subtask 1: Basic framework structure, code management (USC); → FAIRroot Subtask 2: Parameters database management (RUG); Subtask 3: Detector integration, quality assessment (IFIN-HH, ISS). √ Task 3: Involves a few well chosen test cases relevant for several activities of the community Subtask 1: The response of neutron detection systems (ATOMKI); Subtask 2: The response of fast ejectile and heavy-ion detectors (RUG); Subtask 3: The response of a calorimeter (USC). √ FairRoot Advantages in using the FairRoot Framework: -Improve the efficiency of creating new experiment simulation software for new detector projects. -All of the tedious, low-level details of creating experiment software are already addressed in a reusable package. -Reuse code that has been pre-built and pre-tested. - Increase the reliability of the new application and reduce the programming and testing effort. - Maintained at GSI (http://fairroot.gsi.de) In short: Simple Adaptive Flexible FairRoot new developments Interface database extended: FairRoot Now: Before: Run Manager RunTime Database IO Manager DB Interface ASCII File Configuration parameters. Root File Configuration parameters. Oracle Root File MC-points Digits, etc TSQLServer Oracle MySQL • Database Interface is in SVN • Ongoing work: • RuntimeDB connection and initialization scheme (GSI) • Implementation of Generic Parameter Container (KVI) • Preparation of realistic tests (Land02) Postgresql FairRoot new developments Time Based Simulation for Event Merging simulate data stream as realistic as possible Could be an alternative to the merging of individual event generators into a more complex but more realistic one.
