Why read?
The world of reading helps pupils learn
many aspects of the language such as:
spelling, vocabulary, grammar,
knowledge and culture.
All these important aspects can be
taught through reading.
Ways to motivate pupils to read:
**Pupils should be read to.
**Pupils should be able to choose any book of
their interest and read it.
**Pupils should have silent reading lessons and
library lessons.
**Teachers should encourage reading.
Reading Strategies:
1.Activating and using
background knowledge
2.Asking Questions
3.Making Inferences
4. Predicting
5. Visualizing
There are many other strategies
used to teach pupils how to enjoy
reading and understand it. These
strategies were most useful and
practical to use in my EFL
classroom.
Pupils need to be encouraged
to read .
The way to do so is to make
sure they enjoy the reading
experience.
There are many creative
ways to do so.
Ways to encourage pupils to
read:
*Reading
out loud
*Storytelling
*Reading corners
*Rewriting stories
* Acting out stories
