Have your say about Manly’s heritage Self-completion survey Have your say! Manly Council is developing a Sustainable Heritage Conservation Plan that will identify the many things that people like about Manly – as a desirable place to live, work and to do business – so that both present and future generations will also be able to enjoy Manly and to recognise why Manly is such a special place to be. The term heritage refers to places we care for and conserve into the future. The new plan will be developed by a team of expert heritage specialists with significant input from Manly’s residents, as well as from people who own commercial property and businesses and from people who work in Manly. This survey is Stage One of a series of consultation opportunities that are designed to provide you with opportunities to have your say about the development of the new plan. The survey will ask you about aspects of Manly that you like and that you feel contribute to your quality of life. We would also like to know about things that you feel are important to look after, for future generations. Your feedback will help to guide Council, and the heritage team, in the development of the new plan. Completing this questionnaire Your feedback is completely anonymous. There are no right or wrong answers. We understand that people will have differing perspectives about heritage issues. It is also important to note we are not seeking a consensus view at this time – or asking you to agree to anything. We are simply seeking to understand the range of views that exist in the community about the broad issue of Manly’s heritage. Next Steps After the survey is finished, the findings will be analysed and a report prepared for Council. You will be able to read this report on Council’s website and at Council’s office by the end of June 2007. After completing this questionnaire, we will also ask you to indicate your interest to participate in Round Two of the consultation process. In Round Two (around mid-July) Council will hold a public workshop where you will be able to review elements of the emerging plan and provide your feedback on these. It is expected the draft Sustainable Heritage Conservation Plan will be placed on exhibition for final community comment in September this year. If you would like to be kept informed about Round Two, please provide your contact details on the final page of the questionnaire.
