that is based on elite coaching process skills and management.

• To ensure effective feedback is given to regional, academy and club
stakeholders regarding general player development

• Responsible for the coherent running of all technical and tactical
activities supporting National Age Grade Rugby.
• Develop high levels of game understanding across all National Age Grade
playing squads.
• Develop a successful team environment and take overall responsibility
for the National Age Grade team’s performances.
• Responsible for coordinating all on-field duties and coordinating playing
plans for National Academy players.
• Design, coordinate, implement, evaluate and record the effectiveness of
all individual, unit and team developments. This process to be discussed
and developed with all members of the squad management team.
• Establish performance targets and the criteria used to assess
development.
• Implement the players personal development plans.
• Chair the selection panel for both U18’s and U20’s adhering to WRU
selection policies.
• Develop the National Age Grade squad’s style of play in conjunction with
WRU National strategies.

specialised coaches as and when deemed advantageous to the squad.
Facilitate the development of all coaches within the National Age Grade
structure.
Support relevant off-field developments as agreed by the Team Manager
for the relevant squad.
Feedback regularly to the Head of Ruby.
Provide match by match and end of season reports for The Head of
Rugby.
Comply with the WRU process of regularly scheduled performance
reviews/appraisals by Head of Rugby and/or appropriately appointed
qualified staff.
To ensure the safety and welfare of all squad players and management
group members in coaching and coach education sessions.
Carry out duties to help support the WRU/MS mission statement in line
with the Company’s core values
The WRU are committed to providing CPD for the successful candidate.
We expect the successful candidate to undertake available training
courses and research to enhance personal knowledge, skills and
experience.
Attend relevant training courses/ seminars/ workshops as required to
assist with CPD as directed by the Head of Rugby.

Minimum 3 years experience within the rugby coaching environment,
this experience will have been gained in a practical environment and
preferably at different levels of the game.
Minimum of three years experience of coaching at a semi professional
level.
Experience in the methodology and critique of research in sports science
with the ability to put research into practice.
Understanding and awareness of the issues facing high performance
coaching and the practical, educational, vocational and social needs of
elite young players.
Experience of setting clear goals, targets, measures and implementing
action plans
Detailed knowledge and understanding of the structures and operations
of Welsh Rugby from club to national level.
UKCC Level 4 coaching award or equivalent
University sports science qualification /related discipline or equivalent
Management qualification
Strong interpersonal skills and relationship management
Excellent IT Skills, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint and
Analysis operations system.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
