RAD Offers One-Stop Shop for
Carrier Ethernet Access
Launches Full NTU Platform Ranging from 1 Mbps to 10 Gbps and
Carrier Class High Capacity Access Aggregation for
Ethernet and TDM Legacy Services
September 21, 2011 – RAD Data Communications today announced that it has enhanced its
widely deployed EtherAccess® product portfolio with a flexible, high-capacity Ethernet and
legacy TDM service aggregation platform, suitable for wholesale, mobile, business, and
cloud services.
The new resilient solutions ensure high-density aggregation and are purpose-built to deliver
powerful traffic management, performance monitoring, timing synchronization, and
demarcation for Carrier Ethernet connectivity. Supporting carrier-to-carrier interfaces, the
solution scales to thousands of multi-class service flows in the access, backhaul/middle mile,
or edge segments of carrier networks.
The enhanced platform consists of the following devices:



High-Capacity Pre-Aggregator supporting thousands of multi-class service flows
and TDM circuits
10 GbE NTU
Modular all-in-one Carrier Ethernet Demarcation Device
Immediately available for testing, the new products are scheduled for wider release within the
next few months, and join RAD’s successful line of Carrier Ethernet demarcation devices,
tens of thousands of which have been deployed by leading carriers and service providers
around the world.
Simplifies Production and Operations
“No two networks are built alike, but all operators want to simplify their production and
operations – and keep costs to a minimum,” says Amir Karo, Vice President of Marketing at
RAD Data Communications. “We have addressed CapEx reduction by introducing our own

Ethernet ASIC, enabling us to offer cost-optimized NTUs to meet price points for mass
deployment,” he explains. “We also minimize OpEx with our comprehensive service life
cycle management toolbox, which includes service turn-up testing, on-going monitoring and
fault management, as well as recovery,” Karo notes. “RAD’s end-to-edge platform eases
service definition.”
Four Generations of Carrier Ethernet Development
“RAD’s expansion of its solution platform is the culmination of four generations of intensive
in-house Carrier Ethernet product development, incorporating advanced technologies and the
latest industry standards, while reflecting ongoing dialog with service providers as to what
they require to smooth their network operations, improve efficiency and keep expenses as
low as possible,” Karo concludes.
