The School Day
• School hours are from 9:15am to 4:15am
• Homeroom expectation 8:50am-9:10am – what
constitutes tardy
• Preferred Homeroom arrival by 9:00am
• Students may arrive as early as 8:00am and attend IMS
(Independent Morning Study) in the cafeteria – quiet
study time
• NOT BEFORE 8:00am
• Car Rider Expectations – refer to letter
The School Day cont.
• Students will transition a minimum 6 times per day
• 3 minutes between classes
• Students will attend 2 Connections classes per nine
•
weeks
Students have an option to attend intramurals or IMS in
the morning starting at 8:15am
• Intramurals start a couple of weeks after school starts
– you will receive notice

Report Cards/Grades
• Students receive a report card at the end of each nine
weeks

Students who fail three or more classes may be retained
• Parents and students may use Synergy to keep track of
progress via a secure website
Student Agenda
• Receive first agenda free
• The agendas serve as an assigned textbook
• Students carry their agendas at all times while in the

If an assigned agenda is missing, students are required to
replace – currently replacement cost is $10.00 first time
and $5.00 each time thereafter.
Lockers
• All students are assigned a locker
• They may have 3 lockers (academic, PE and Band) (if

Students are allowed to go to their lockers only
during designated locker breaks in 6th grade
Lockers are operated by a combination lock; no
additional personal locks are permitted
Students may not carry a backpack throughout the
building, backpacks should be stored in the locker
Attendance
• There is a direct relationship between attendance
and academic performance
• After an absence, students must have a note
from home or a doctor’s excuse
• Students are responsible for checking with
teachers to make up missed work
• Make-up work is accepted for credit on a day-forday basis (number of days absent, plus 1
additional day for make up)

• All students are required to adhere to the dress code at

The dress code is strictly enforced to promote a safe
environment free from distractions to learning
Clothing must be tasteful and appropriate for school
Students will receive a copy of the dress code which will
also printed in the student Agenda
Students are required to dress out for physical education
classes – shorts, sweats, t-shirts and tennis shoes; there is
no PE “uniform”
Bullying
• All Cobb County schools adhere to a strict policy
prohibiting harassment and/or bullying
• Students are expected to exhibit good behavior and
respect for their teachers and peers at all times
• Anti-Bullying protocols are covered with students the
first week of school

General School Expectations
• Dropping off items – refrain from this practice
• Entering the building or visiting procedures
• Eating lunch with your child
• Parking lot/car rider procedures as referenced earlier
Check In/Out
• Check in and out require that the parent come in to the
building and verify identity.
• Check outs are not permissible after 3:45pm
• Check outs before 12:30pm impact attendance – a full
day’s credit is received after 12:30pm
