Method for selecting environmentally friendly

ECOproduct
Method for selecting environmentally friendly
materials and products in construction projects.
Requirements to data basis
External verified environmental declaration (EPD) Type III according to:
• ISO 14025:2006 Environmental labels and declarations – Type III environmental
declarations – Principles and procedures, and
• NS-EN 15804:2012 Sustainability of construction works. Environmental product
declarations. Core rules for the product category of construction products
Self declaration* from manufacturer which includes:
• Information on hazardous substances according to REACH Candidate list and/or Annex
XIV), the Norwegian priority list and the CLP regulation if this is not stated in the EPD
• Emission from products that affect the indoor environment, ref. EN 15251:2007 +
NA:2014 - Indoor environmental input parameters for design and assessment of energy
performance of buildings addressing indoor air quality, thermal environment, lighting and
acoustics
*Not required for very low emission materials which are not are added chemicals, such as untreated
steel, aluminum, zinc, glass, stone etc.

How to evaluate construction materials?
•
It is given a rating from 1 – 8 for the various environmental areas, where 1 is best and 8 is worst.
•
It also provides an overall assessment in the form of symbols
